Went to Starbucks this morning and was greeted by a Rolling Stones song ...

Good thing the stones are deep because the wheel blows
"You know what's wrong with America? If I lovingly tongue a woman's nipple in a movie, it gets an "NC-17" rating, if I chop it off with a machete, it's an "R". That's what's wrong with America, man...."--Dennis Hopper

This is later than I expected for the first Some Girls pick.

I also thought Start Me Up would be gone in the 1st or 2nd.

It would have fallen even farther had sheep not snaked 'Loving Cup' from me.
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

Sheep is a Phish-hater, right? That makes it doubly frustrating for you.

(For non-Phish fans, Loving Cup has been a regular in Phish live sets since 1993.)

Can't help but associate this with Windows 95 ... I will forever visualize a blue screen whenever I hear this song.

I was there, and yes, and yes.

I was hoping for midnight rambler and hang fire at the wheel

Start Me Up almost went at 3.02, but my paranoia made me fear that someone would steal my precious Midnight Rambler if I let it go any longer. In reality, it probably would have made it several more rounds.

I was never a fan of the Some Girls album. It was a Mick record, very little Keith.

                    • It's possible I would have taken Midnight Rambler with one of my next two picks, depending on what else was taken.

                      • Midnight Rambler: "The live version is amazing, but the studio version sucks swamp water. "
In fairness I've never tasted swamp water ... but that seems a bit harsh

                        • talking about association... it's crazy how many songs I associate with the scenes they were used in Goodfellas in. Monkey Man when Henry is driving around all paranoid just before he gets arrested is one of them. I can't hear Layla without picturing dead bodies rolling out of dumpsters either.

I think we did a mini-draft of songs in movies once. Layla is way up there for me.
I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert...

Agreed -- GoodFellas is my favorite movie of all-time, partly because the soundtrack is so perfect -- IMO it's most perfect soundtrack of independent songs ever made. Funny, I never knew that it was Monkey Man in that scene, though.

The Layla scene, especially the frozen Carbone in the truck, is probably the greatest scene accompanied by a rock song ever. Also, the Billy Bats/Atlantis scene is also perfect.

Quentin Tarantino just threw up in his barstool.
