but he has been a knucklehead by all accounts, his team hates him, and he's not that great anyway.

again, the point is not that the Mets are right but that this guy is doomed - and not really good enough to blossom elsewhere, either, probably.

Maybe the more amazing part is that he hit this off of Jose Contreras?

I hold judgment, however, considering it's the Mets, and honestly, what the hell do they know?
I think the biggest part of revo's post was dealing with Roto Rooter's belief that Valdespin has never done anything to suggest he has any hope for being anything more than a scrub. From my perspective anyway. I don't believe he was really saying that the Mets should/will give him a fulltime shot.

Yeah, not sure Bodz read all the posts, but you're spot on. Frankly, I think he could be one of the Mets best hitters if he ever overcomes this nonsense.

Just look at that showboating: admiring the blast, the slow walk, the bat flip, then finally staring down the Bucs' dugout. And they were getting crushed!! From what I understand, many Met players were very embarrassed.

or take a veeerrrrry slow walk out of the dugout after he gets plunked and charges the mound....

              • Its time to send Ike to AAA. This aint working.

So what would be the corresponding move if this happens? Who plays 1B?

One scenariio would have Duda go there and fill the outfield opening with one of the many moving parts. I hear Willy Taveras is still playing ball.

Another would have Murphy slide over to 1B with persona non grata Valdy going to 2B.

                      • despite his horrid start, I don't think Ike is in any danger of being demoted. Now if this was mid-June, that's another story....

From the standpoint of the Mets, does it matter? Its more important to get Ike right than it is to have someone capable at 1B.

From a fantasy standpoint, there isn't much in the organization. I guess they can move Duda in and have Cowgill or one of the other stiffs man an OF spot.

ankiel is looking better and better daily.

Did you miss that he hit 20 HRs the second half of last season?

Oh wow a HR! HR's are AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Did you miss him barely hitting .200 last year?

Did you miss him barely hitting .150 this year?

I'd rather he hit 15 HR's and be an actual productive hitter rather than him hitting an occasional HR and then doing nothing else but strikeout.
