off til Tuesday, so we may not hear of replacement right away.
Duda to 1B is obvious option, but in theory they could play Murphy at 1B - he's played there before - and Valdespin at 2B, the only position where they don't distrust his defense. And these are the Mets, so they probably don't know what to do.
Baxter and Gopher Carson also shipped out to Las Vegas as losing five straight to the Marlins awakens somnambulant management...

None of those things are going to happen. Alderson said the new 1B will come from a callup not Duda/Murphy. Josh Satin will most likely get the call up. 29 year old Mets never hasbeen. Yay! Valdespin should have been one of the players sent down too.
Alderson sounded like he was going to throw up in his mouth as he said to WFAN today. he HATES Valdespin..
Looking for confirmation all Alderson said was that's an option not "THE" plan and it's going to be up to Collins if he wants to do that or play Satin. Either way I hope they choose the option that backfires in their face and they lose 20 in a row.
If they were going to do that why not call up Flores their closest thing to a hitting prospect to play 2B. I FUCKING HATE THIS TEAM.
Alderson said that Flores is settling in as a 2B, and was considered, and he might be up before Sept.
He also said that he can't play SS in the majors, so they want to see if he can handle 2B for a while longer.
Alderson re Valdespin said they try him at 2B, but didn't promise it would last long. Clearly Valdespin has to play well right away, as far as Alderson is concerned. As far as Collins, 2B is the only spot he's reasonably comfortable putting Valdespin, so that helps his chances of getting an opportunity.....

Good news for Mets fans as the Zach Wheeler era begins tonight, giving the Mets potentially their most electrifying duo atop the rotation since the late 1980s/early 1990s.
The Mets packed it in when Shawn Marcum became their big free agent get of the offseason in late January. I hope they lose 100+ games. If you're going to be bad then BE BAD. Get a top 3 pick and maybe have a hope for the future.
Leave it to Theo Epstein to figure this one out. The Cubs really aren't that bad this year, with a -15 run differential compared to the Mets, for example, who are sitting at -56. Yet the Cubs are only 1.5 games ahead of the Mets. Why? A Cubs fan explained to me recently that they wanted the better draft pick and the way they went about getting the better draft pick was to use Carlos Marmol in high-leverage situations.
Yep, if you can exploit a bullpen advantage to win more close games than expected, why wouldn't you exploit a bullpen disadvantage to LOSE more close games than expected if that was your goal?
