  • I figured that I'd be somewhere near the bottom, given that I really swung for the fences and took a lot of chances. Lots of kids, lots of upside, lots of potential downside as well. I think that everyone on my team is capable of hitting 20+ home runs, some 30-40. They're also capable of not playing for a month or more. Same with steals, guys like Zimmer could steal 40 bags, or he could be a 4th outfielder depending on the health of Cleveland's other outfielders, and potential trades.

Can't agree with the saves projection. Holland will be closing somewhere, Robertson has a good chance of getting traded, and Hirano might get a shot, although the numbers were run before I chose him. Wins is always a crapshoot, if Hamels and Cueto bounce back, I'm good, if not, oh well, they were worth a try.

It's a go big or go home bunch, because my philosophy this year is that I don't care if I finish in the money, I want to win. And that can take a lot of risks.

I do like the job that Feral Slasher did, really solid team. That's good to see since he joined the RJEL this year, I always love a good competitor.

    Best of luck to all...

thanks, as others noted I leaned pretty hard on Fangraphs projections since I didn't play last year and really just started looking at stuff. You wouldn't believe how much stuff changes in a year. looking forward to playing this out since I'm not too optimistic I'll compete in RJEL this year.

I think that you've got some nice pieces, but it's a tough row to hoe basicly starting from scratch. But I've always had a lot of fun actually rebuilding a team, and I think that your draft skills show that you'll be able to make it happen. People are going to come banging on your door soon enough to try to steal the good stuff from you. It's a cutthroat league...

Relying only on Kenley (plus a Kela lottery ticket) makes the projections put him bottom 4 in saves despite having the best closer (similar discussion as my team above with Kimbrel). 81 SB projected are the low number for the league.

              Anyway, hope this was helpful!
I think this is super helpful. I was deliberately light on steals. I just never got to a place where I was happy taking a steals guy. I am hoping the volatility in season and the lower totals will make the mid-pack teams bunch together and give me an opportunity to make a move up if needed.

I was NOT deliberately light on saves. I agree, it seems dumb to pick Jansen early and then not back him up with a 2nd. I should have taken Colome in round 8, but I just really like Smoak and really don't like the lower-tier CI guys. I just couldn't pull the trigger on an Archie Bradley, or Blake Parker, or even Gregerson. I think Gregerson would have been a smart play but I just can't see STL rolling with him. Soria was a big miss. I didn't need CarGo that badly. Ah well - live and learn.

              • Just 10 picks left total, lets all get over to the draft and finish it off.

as the guy with Colome and Gregerson - I can't see STL sticking with Gregerson either, but (a) he has been a closer before, (b) last year was his first bad year, and (c) if your plan is to scrounge up saves during the season, spending an 18th round pick to get five or ten saves before they give up on him is about the same cost as trying to FAAB someone in June. If they sign Holland I'll be a little hosed, but I did get Lyons if they give up on Gregerson and stay in-house.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

                  • I drafted without Rotolab for this one (since its not out for Mac yet) though glad to see I still was able to build a balanced roster. I went with speed early which in turn led to some OBA tradeoffs along with power. Also went with an ace + 2 strong closer pitching staff approach as after DeGrom I don't have any top-40 SP types but plan to stream and thus took a lot of "hopefully" good ratio, high K relievers. Since we're playing this out, I'll likely try and flip some speed for power & OBA at some point (be that Albies or Buxton most likely). In hindsight, I didn't really need Bregman in round 2 but liked his dual eligibility and strong 5-category skill set. When I drafted him the idea was to plug him in at MI but then the 1B went before I was able to grab 2 and thus stuck Bregman at CI which doesn't maximize the value he has.

A little surprised that my OBA projection is only .330 as I personally am a bit more bullish on some of my guys but looking forward to seeing this thru.

Edit: apparently just had to log back in for some reason, nevermind : )

For instance, Hanley at 1B or Nelson Cruz in the OF. Knowing that I set the eligibility for 20 games last year and that these players did not qualify there, I was wondering what was going on. Only now did I see a small box, on a hidden page in their front office, was checked off for "Also Use Fantrax's Default Position," which unbeknownst to me wrongly gave these players eligibility at these positions.

It only affects a small handful of players, and while it's too late to make any changes now, I do believe this should be corrected before the season begins.

It was well-stated that 20 games is the eligibility requirement, so I don't think anyone should object, even if it was a mistake.
Soooo....the league settings will be updated at some point to indicate when our roster is invalid, right ? Still letting me use Hanley at 1B. Not that I'm in a rush...just might help people recognize if they drafted into a bad situation

                              • Just glancing over those projections, the ERA and WHIP values look extremely optimistic. Worst ERA is 3.8? That would have placed 2nd in my 14 team mixed last year, 2nd in a 15 team mixed, and 4th in another 15 team mixed. And it's 17th?

Worst WHIP is 1.28 which seems very low as well.

Strange. I wonder why the projections are that far off of last year's numbers.
