  • "has blundered into being a shill for FactCheck"

in this case, as well as for ABC News, Washington Post, Columbia Journalism Review, etc.
you forgot to add that. the conspiracy is even more widespread than you feared!

"Cutter's statement was a large over-reach. She should have stuck to the character issue as that could stick."

the other complication is that the more you try to saddle Romney with Bain negatives, the more complicated it can get with perceived Bain positives such as job creation.

I'm looking forward to the Romney campaign commercials claiming credit for his active role in those respects, and the Obama campaign angrily insisting that Romney was nothing but a passive player with the company.

    gotta love politics

    • A guy sent me a copy of an ad today which really caused him to be upset. It was talking about the government taking away our guns.

Have I missed something? Is there some program in place designed to take away our firearms that I just don't know about yet?

LOL...no. IMO, the biggest challenges to gun ownership come at the city/county level, not at the state or federal level. All of the cases so far that significantly restrict gun ownership at the local level have been hammered down in court; Heller being the most notable but far from the only case.

The only federal issue that's arisen that could arguably called a "restriction" is the updated rules on what constitutes a fully automatic assault rifle.

it's supposed to be on the down low, but as soon as Obama is re-elected and no longer has to worry about that, he's going to impose martial law and unilaterally put a far-left libril agenda in place.

There are paranoid delusionals on the fringes of both political spectrums that think all kinds of crazy things. And both sides are willing to cater to them for their votes. Personally, I find it much more edifying to take on the best thinkers and the best ideas from either side, rather than mock their crazies, or suggest that their ramblings are somehow indicative of the mainstream of their side's political thought. Shooting fish in a barrel gets dull rather quickly, don't you think?
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master - that's all."

I didn't think your question needed a response but here you go: no, I didn't know who ayers was until the run up to the 2008 election. I was like 8 years old when he was blowing stuff up.
I was trying to talk you off the ledge with your Romney's going to win whinings, not stir up trouble. Several posters have listed great and pertinent reasons why Romney isn't qualified to be President--the auto bailout and the flip flop on Romney care being at the top of the list. You want to spend time on silly issues like whether or not he got a bonus for the SLC Olympics -- to me it reads like the Sarah/Bristol baby controversy or the Jeremiah (maybe you call him Jerry) Wright controversy. A non-issue to everyone except the true believers.
In the future I promise not to reign on your conspiracy parade.

Well, let's get this straight before we go on. I never mentioned, and don't give a damn, whether Romney got a bonus for the SLC Olympics. My post addressed how chance, who usually has a healthy skepticism about such things, somehow decided to declare there to be "no doubt" that Romney didn't work for Bain after 1999. This is all part of the new chance, the one who slants way farther right than the old chance.

You apparently decided to be clever at my expense, and in the process came unacceptably close to comparing me with Bill Ayers. Two problems...I have absolutely nothing in common with Bill Ayers...and I was sure you had no idea who you were talking about until you were "educated" by Fox News. One clue was your calling him "William".

Accusing someone of acting like Bill Ayers, when you don't have a clue what you're talking about, is weak. Now you've worsened things by dragging the Palins and Jeremiah Wright into the fray. This type of misdirection argument is just silly.

You want to talk me off a ledge? You need more game than these vague accusations and straw man arguments. The only decent point in your posts on this issue (otherwise a waste of band width), was the suggestion that anything having to do with the Palins or Jeremiah Wright is a non-issue. The rest was a waste of your time, my time, and the time of those who have read what we have directed at each other.

I don't recall where your political views lie, but whenever those on the right try to peg the left by ascribing to them the views of people who just don't play any role in the creation of the liberal ideology, it is sadly humorous. You usually see it in terms of "Liberals believe this", or "Liberals think that", but sometimes it comes in the form of guilt by association...regardless of whether there was actually any association.

I'd just as soon call this a draw, and not waste our time scrapping with each other. Or we can say you won. Whatever it takes to move us along.

I should be okay, then. I have quite a few semi-automatic firearms, but nothing close to being fully automatic.

There may be a problem with that. I've got more firepower than all the "librils" in town put together, but I'm not helping put anybody's agenda in place.

His position may not have changed, but it does seem that he adds his considerable talents, from time to time, to helping the right articulate positions which are difficult to articulate. He reminds me of one attorney who has cases in my court all the time. I don't always agree with him, but he always finds a way to make an interesting case, even turning an occasional sow's ear into a purse.

That's a very good argument, except for the fact that in many cases those paranoid ramblings are finding their way into the mainstream of a party's political thought. Then you have more dangerous than fish in that barrel.

Exactly. The Republican Party has welcomed the fringe loonies with open arms, both among their media titans and their caucus itself.
