I agree that Lost in Translation was one of the most boring and overrated movies of all time.

Couldn't agree more. The Royal Tennenbaums was completely unwatchable. Rushmore was recommended to me by so many people and I completely hated it.

As for Coen Bros. movies, I think I've flat out loved them all except for Burn After Reading, which was merely okay. Fargo is way up there on my all-time movies list. Loved that one a lot. Honestly, I think that True Grit is one of their weaker efforts. Raising Arizona is another all-time great.
I didn't like The Man Who Wasn't There, but I did enjoy Barton Fink, and Fargo is one of my all time favs.

Swingers is pretty bad. I guess I understand it's popularity at that time, but it looks very dated now.

Actually, I'll put every Vince Vaughn movie on this list. He's never done anything good imo.

Any movie historically inaccurate just cuts right through me. That's my main objection to the movie. And it didn't suck -- it just didn't match the hype for me.
Lawyer movies that are wildly unrealistic bother me. I hated Kramer vs. Kramer, but loved The Verdict.

another vote for Fletch as an answer to the OP.

looking over the IMDB top 100:
I agree Forest Gump was way over-rated. It has it's good points, but much of the middle was just dumb.
I found Requiem for a Dream to be completely boring and depressing. Maybe that was the point, but I would have preferred not to spend my time on it.
The Green Mile at 78 is just silly. Nice movie, but too cutesy for a rating like this.
I liked Inglorious Basterds but it's not the 92nd best movie ever made.
                Ditto Gran Torino at 100

I went to look for the IMDB Top 100, but accidentally stumbled upon the Bottom 100. Looked like some real stinkers, but the only one I had seen was that Battlefield Earth nightmare, after which I petitioned SAG to revoke Travolta's card.

What? You demand plot out of your movies? Even a tiny semblance of a plot? One even a 12 year old might be able to write? Picky, picky, picky.

I think if you lived in those times the movie would mean more and be funnier than those who have not.

I thought it was a great movie.
