The problem is that the Wilpons won't go, and Bud won't make them go.

        That's true.

Why all the hate for Alderson? What was he supposed to do? He couldn't sign any significant free agents, and under his watch the team is building their best rotation since the mid-1980s heyday. His bottom of the barrel signings have worked out to some degree (Byrd, EY, Carlos Torres, Jeremy Hefner, etc.). The RA Dickey trade was a thing of beauty. Yeah, he missed on the Pagan deal and if the fanbase was more willing, probably gotten approval to trade Reyes, but overall, considering what he was given to work with, has done pretty well.

I can't stop laughing at this one. If this guy isn't given his walking papers then I give up.

I was going to say, "The D didn't E his P" but thought that was a bit crude.

As for releasing him, it makes no difference right now as far as I know. He's suspended without pay either way. If the Mets suddenly become smart, they'll wait until the last possible second this off-season just to f*** with him, then cut him.

Given the suspension, it makes no difference. He's done for the year; it's not like the Mets will make the playoffs or would have any thought of including him on a hypothetical playoff roster. At that point, they don't really release him, they just non-tender him, which was probably going to happen anyway.

Happy (early) Birthday Wilmer Flores!! Flores, born on August 6, is on his way to New York!!
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

He's had a fine year at Las Vegas--.322/.358/.532 with 15 home runs and 86 RBI over 106 games. Since he just turned 22 today and this was his first time at AAA, I can understand why a rational organization would wait this long to recall him, which in most years would not describe the Mets.

As bad as Wright's injury is for the Mets, in a way this is a golden opportunity. They're not contending, so they can just let Flores play, see what they have in him as a big league player, and decide whether to find a position for him next year or use him as trade bait.

I still think he moves to the bullpen. Just doesn't seem like a guy who can hold up in the rotation. And with Harvey, Niese, Gee, Syndergaard, Montero, etc. they should have talent to fill out a solid rotation. Frankly would have liked to see the Mets flip Mejia for a bat. At some point they will need to do that.
