Kind of like his father--He can play several defensive positions, each of them just badly enough to hurt the team, but he's a good enough offensive player that when he's hot, you live with it.

You need to read his whole quote. He's not confusing anything at all:
"We've taken what seemed to be a fairly barren outfield at the beginning of the season and turned it over the last month into maybe the most productive outfield in baseball. So some positive things have happened. And we want to let that play out. I also think if we can create some momentum this season, whether that results in a playoff appearance or not, that will have a more positive effect on the organization and our fans than acquiring a few additional mid-level prospects."

He's trying to sell tickets and/or save his job. As most people would in that situation.

I'm not sure Met fans are dying to pay good money to see Marlon Byrd in action. But having him, and the other non-descript types in the fold has made the team better and this team needs to disassociate itself from being labeled a loser, which it basically has been since the epic collapses of the mid-2000s.

I don't believe Alderson is in any danger of losing his job, but he sure could walk away from it on his own accord.

                • Turner at 3rd, Satin at 1st today.

but now Collins says they may mainly go with Murphy at 3B, EY II at 2B - leaving Duda a clear path when he comes back soon.

And the best way to boost ticket sales is to win games.

                        They're selling tickets?

They're selling tickets, but the public isn't necessarily buying.

I'm with Erik. Win, and they will show up. Even such "hot ticket" teams as the Yankees, Patriots, and Steelers have played in virtually empty home venues when they were perennial losers.

                          • Shea it ain't so:

David Wright (hamstring) is expected to miss 3-5 weeks.
Wright was diagnosed Saturday with a Grade 3 strain of his right hamstring -- a fairly significant injury. Justin Turner is expected to fill in at third base.

                            • Rotoworld scores again - at this pt, actually expected to be Murphy to 3B and EY II to 2nd (and Duda to OF).

of course, the Mets do flipflop a lot
