Neither team played much defense and USA hit every shot they took pretty much. Over 80% from 2 point territory and 63% from 3 point territory.

      • Is anyone else having issues with NBCOlympics.com? I get to the sign-in screen but nothing appears expect a white screen. I have Time Warner so I'm sure I can access the content.

        • I think the debate over whether Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian in history is kind of silly because of the distinctions among Olympic sports in medal opportunities, but he's almost certainly the greatest swimmer in Olympic history.

Along those lines, can we now discuss whether Carmelo Anthony is the best basketballer in Olympic history? He's certainly not the best basketball player to play for team USA, but if you look at his Olympic career and forget about who's better or worse when you factor in performance in the NBA or any other setting, Carmelo's performances have been spectacular. It seems that more than any other b-baller, Carmelo is either elevating his game for the Olympics or the Olympic setting and the international court/rules/style perfectly suit his game/skillset.

Are you still talking about basketball, or are you talking about the gun events? The basketball team was awfully good at shooting yesterday. But the American game versus the international game, generally, has developed an emphasis on athleticism - speed, hops, body control in space - versus the pure art of shooting, which still seems to be the primary focus for the international game.

That never occurred to me ... I meant gun shooting. You would think there would be a lot of interest in the shooting events given the love of guns by a large % of the population.

                • Neo-Nazi leaves German team early....

Nadja Drygalla, a German rower who already competed at the Olympics, is on her way home from London a bit earlier than she intended. Drygalla decided to leave the games after reports surfaced that she is connected to a neo-Nazi group in Germany.

Drygalla's boyfriend is reportedly a leader of the Rostock National Socialists, a group German intelligence describes as neo-Nazi and racist.

"Miss Drygalla confirmed credibly her commitment to the Olympic Charter," the head of Germany's committee Michael Vesper said. "She is leaving the Olympic Village so as not to be a burden for the team."

Drygalla is a member of Germany's women's eight. Her team was eliminated in the repechage round.

This isn't the first time Drygalla has been connected to Germany's far-right. According to German broadcaster DW, she was connected to another neo-Nazi in March of 2011. This forced her to resign from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomeranian police force.

Why was she even allowed to compete? Having two neo-Nazi boyfriends makes her a complicit Neo-Nazi in my book.

LOL. USA does have two golds in shooting this Olympics, which doesn't seem too bad to me. That said, we tend to like sports that are fun to watch on television. Shooting bullets at targets is pretty terrible television.

Really? ... I suppose that's pretty good ... not China-good, but up there. Looked to be lot's of strange Olympic nations popping up on my medal ticker for shooting (noticed India and Qatar) ... and China, China, China, China of course.

                          Hahaha.

Besides, they look silly with all of that tech on their body. The Chinese girl that won the first medal had her rifle on a stand. My grandmother showed me how to shoot by plinking cans one-handed lol.

The Pakistan team was his biggest competitor, but he took them out in the Olympic prelims.
