We've discussed this before. You are mixing up two very different things.
    1) Fact #1: We are paying historically low levels of taxes right now, as a percentage of GDP. This is true for Federal taxes, as well as for combined Federal, State, and Local taxes.
    2) Fact #2: The percentage of taxes paid by the Top 1% (or Top 5 or 25 or 50%) is higher than before. But that is NOT because their taxes are too high. It is because their income is a higher fraction of total income than before. So of course, their share of taxes goes up.

If you want to claim that taxes are too high, the only way to demonstrate that is by looking at the ratio of taxes paid to income earned. Not by looking at the share paid by the Top 1% (or whatever percentage you want).

    • how many congress and senators have chosen to retire this year and mentioned partisanship as the reason?

evan bayh, ben nelson, snowe, lieberman, jim webb, kay bailey hutchison.. pretty much moderates. thus it's not the other party's partisanship but their own party.

what worries me is if it's something bigger. like they know something we don't and they're getting out before it turns.

Yeah, but isn't that when we get all the orgies? So it's not all bad.

You're bad. Really bad. Someday, you're gonna be struck down for your sins and made to live in Kentucky.

That's it, no orgy invitation for you! And you can forget about going to see the lions being fed.

Be careful, Kentucky will be the new Capital of the full restored United States. Of course, the President will have to have a purty mouth.

That's better than being lion food, I suppose.

Which is why I concurred not watching the lions be fed is better than being fed to them and having an up close and personal view....

I said that it deserved to be mentioned with the 74 Steelers, 86 49ers and 91 Cowboys as one of the drafts of the decade. That statement I stand behind.

Not to derail this thread, but that has to be a joke.

Pro-Football-Reference.com gives the Chiefs 5 players with a 15+ Career Approximate Value from that draft, making it a solid draft. But so far, Jamaal Charles is the only one approaching a career AV of 30. To put that in perspective, Tamba Hali has a career AV of 32 already, and Larry Johnson's career AV was 55.

Peyton Manning's career AV is 155.

The '91 Cowboys had 7 players with a career AV of 30+, led by Erik Williams' 70.

So quite frankly, the Chiefs '08 draft class has a LONG LONG LONG way to go to even be compared to some of the better draft classes of this decade, let alone NFL history.

As evidenced by the Game of Thrones thread, OJH is either a troll or losing his mind. Whichever condition it may be, probably best to just save your keystrokes. Especially since you've only got nine working fingers.

Since this is the wrong forum, I will start a thread in Football.
