  • Rogan says he would welcome Harris on podcast, but they claimed schedule too booked up. Terrible miss, to allow 3+ hours of Trump and not to think to book Harris. Rogan is bigger audience than any network, has near 20 mill viewers on spotify and ig daily. This was a huge win for Trump.

I mostly agree, but part of me worries how Harris would do in a long form interview. Trump is immune to anything going wrong, because we are desensitized to his word salads and outrageous statements. If anything, letting him talk longer at least leads to some semblance of coherence in his "weave" way of rambling, especially with Rogan gently promoting him to stay on task and getting back to some form of an answer. Conversely, Harris is generally well prepared and tries to stick with preplanned talking points. And going that long is sure to lead to some off the cuff remarks that could end up hurting her. But yeah, given the reach and extent of the audience, it was worth putting herself out there and trying her best to make a case for why these folks should vote for her. Bernie did it, and he did a good job; Harris probably should have tried to as well.

Still a chance for Harris to win, but crap, your first sentence is a pretty big indictment of not only Harris, but the Democratic Party "leadership". They are so out of touch and divorced from reality, they live in a bubble. If history is any guide they will blame the voters if she loses.

I’ll blame you. I haven’t figured out why, but I’ll come up with something.

Yeah, accountability, self-assessment, and change aren't real big in the DNC. It's a real toss up right now. The Musk affect and the bro podcast tour is really big among young male voters. Harris seems to have ceded that demo and thinks she can make it up elsewhere. If that fails (or even if it doesn't), you'd hope future candidates won't run from addressing all voters and be open to long form interviews that will give deeper insights into the candidates. It doesn't have to be Rogan specifically, of course, but really long conversations with someone who will let the candidates talk calmly and freely are great--especially when the audience includes those who may have wrong impressions based on propaganda ads. So much of what we get are pre-fabbed soundbites and the long interviews are great to get deeper into who the candidates are and what they actually stand for.

Of course, what Trump did in agreeing to these interviews is lean into a demo that already favors him, so I guess it would be different for Harris. I don't know what the equivalent would be for Harris, but it is clear her strategy is to play it safe, not make any unforced errors, and hope for the best. It may end up being a winning strategy, but it would be great if we could get away from soundbites and mudslinging and get more long form interviews that give us deeper insights into the candidates and their positions.

              • What happens if Trump wins Biggly, say more than three percent?

He is ahead in the RCP average, a change of over 1.5% in two weeks. There has always been a jump-on trend if one candidate shows clear strength. Trump could not only win the popular vote but also a clear majority for the first time since the 1980s.

FWIW the McDonalds stunt seems to be the key image of the election. Trump looks relaxed and happy while dealing with regular people. When has Harris ever looked relaxed much less happy.

I try to refrain from engaging, because you often make such clearly wrong and unsupported claims, often completely opposite claims from all available evidence, that I assume you are baiting, but I'll take your claims and face value for once and simply say this is an absurd take. Trump had no clue how to do the job at hand and admitted he thought workers pulled the fries from the fryer and put them in the bags with their bare hands, so he was pleasantly surprised that wasn't the case. His interactions were with plants as well. And Harris looks happy all of the time. Have you ever watched her at any event, ever? It would be more accurate to critique her for being too jovial. You can counter that she is being fake, but that would be a subjective take that few share (at least in terms of her mood rather than her positions). She laughs all of the time. It's one of the things she is known for.

And Trump won't win "bigly," especially if you are talking about the popular vote. He could definitely win the EC, but the chances of him winning the popular vote are extremely slim--a position supported by all the polls and all of the betting. If you really think he has a good chance to win the popular vote, I wish I could bet with you as it would be easy money. But it would be a dumb bet to make at even money, since you can get 5 to 1 odds elsewhere, because no one else but you think he has a good chance of winning the popular vote. In fact, if you really believe that, do yourself a favor and bet as much as you can on it happening, because you will make 5x on the bet. If you do and win, make sure to give me a cut for tipping you to the odds. I will use my cut to donate to the National Immigrant Justice Center in your honor.
