NJ gets a full-bench sports betting hearing at 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philly on Feb 17, for the degenerate gambler crowd

NJ lost 1st round, 2-1, with majority guy saying the first law was no good but they could fix it like this.
next round they lost 2-1 again - with that majority guy who wrote the first opinion now being the dissenter.

no wonder the full court is taking it up (about a dozen judges).

no decision before next summer, but a NJ win would open the floodgates for any state to offer it (though perhaps only the Wild, Wild west privately regulated version that the flipflop judge is ok with).
finished 10th in this 37th yr in 11-team-only NL 5x5
    own picks 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 in April 2022 1st-rd farmhand draft
    won in 2017 15 07 05 04 02 93 90 84

    SP SGray 16, TWalker 10, AWood 10, Price 3, KH Kim 2, Corbin 10
    RP Bednar 10, Bender 10, Graterol 2
    C Stallings 2, Casali 1
    1B Votto 10, 3B ERios 2, 1B Zimmerman 2, 2S Chisholm 5, 2B Hoerner 5, 2B Solano 2, 2B LGarcia 10, SS Gregorius 17
    OF Cain 14, Bader 1, Daza 1

i'll tell you it's not fun to be out to dinner with your mother and you look up at the tv and you got $300 bucks riding on the oilers who are losing. but you know, thanks to DFS, there's a whole new generation out there about to find that out for themselves. heh

The NYS judge agreed with the NYS AG and has effectively banned DFS in New York. According to Legal Sports Report, 8 states have similar "gambling" statutes to NYS and will possibly follow suit.

I can't see how this stays afloat now that the tide is turning full against it. That's what happens when you get greedy...as a friend of mine says, pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. They got so rich so fast that they never thought to put on the breaks a bit...

An immediate appeal goes in favor of DraftKings. They can keep operating at least through the New Year. FanDuel back in business in NY as well.

And now Paypal and Bank of America are moving to stop transactions in NYS.

                      • I just got an email from Fanduel saying they are entering into a merger with DraftKings - to create what I assume would be a near monopolistic stranglehold on DFS. Anjd to think I just started on Fanduel because I was pissed at DraftKings. Sweet.
Fantasy sports tech companies Draftkings and FanDuel say the merger is expected to close in 2017.
