Being at the end of the draft in a draft this shallow is a huge, huge advantage. We really should reconsider doing the last round or two blind.

As opposed to being able to draft one of the mega pitchers and getting picks 1,22&23? I had zero chance at any of the really big value pitchers ... Silver King went 3 picks before me ... Radbourne, Hecker, Sweeney were all long gone ... and I was already in the mystery value picks by the time picks 3 & 4 (33 & 34) rolled along, because I knew 5 & 6 were going to be really tough.

It normally evens itself out, but in this draft it's clear the big advantage was with the early drafters ... big early value for 5 rounds, instead of 4 at the end, more good drafters at the front, so easier to respond to runs. I always felt I was a pick behind ... from about round 6 onwards it felt like I was catchup drafting already.

Apart from Garp, who's more middle than end, everyone up this end is out of it.

thank you, sir ! After the last two drafts I was wondering if anyone would ever beat you again. It was interesting trying a different format, didn't have the history to know where people were likely to go, which made it fun. I made a few tweaks to my valuations and tried to not repeat the mistakes I made in VD2 and VD3, it was just enough.
