  • It seems like the majority of the remaining outages are in Central Texas around and north of Austin, and then also in the DFW area. But we're talking about hundreds of thousands of people being affected now instead of several millions.

I have two friends with flooded homes already. Also my church flooded.

We had a frozen pipe yesterday for a toilet and one in my kitchen, but those thawed so far by running some hot water through.

I'm concerned for my two external faucets. I wrapped them in cloth but probably not enough.

Same. I have been able to thaw frozen pipes in the house so far by running hot water for a while. But I am wondering what the external faucets and sprinkler system will be like. I wrapped them as best I could and drained the exposed part of the sprinker system, but we've never had anything like 12 degrees before, so I have no idea how well they fared. Tomorrow may be the day we find out since that's the first day they are predicting temps more than a couple degrees above freezing for more than a few hours at a time.

Based on a discussion with a friend of mine who works nuclear up here, the reactor shut down due to the feedwater system freezing up.

Plus, that way you won't have to go to Sacramento and live with a bunch of fucking cats.

I'm down to one right now... unless you all thought I'd make you camp in the backyard, then you'd have to deal with 5 other cats, 2 skunks, 3 racoons, 2 foxes and an opossum. I really hope none of the cats are fucking... that would just lead to more cats.

                            It's the circle of life!!!!!!!

What we really need to worry about is when the skunks start fucking the racoons and we get smelly, aggressive danger rodents eating our trash - skunkoons.

                            • I've seen multiple stories lately about fostering baby skunks. They look cute and all, but none of the stories ever mention the smell. I mean, you would think that was a major bullet point whether they smell or not.

                              • Guys, Ted Cruz actually had a really awesome reason for abandoning Texas in its time of need --- his daughters really, really wanted a resort vacation! I mean, why didn't you just say so, Ted? You totally get a pass now.
