I like to have a few beers on a hot summer day, particularly at the park when I play frisbee. I'd say I could have, oh, 1/10th of one fancy beer before it backed up on me, leaving me barfing sour, dark foam and wishing I hadn't opted for . Beer drinking is not to get wasted, although that's certainly the entertaining end result every so often, or to get all snooty about what a "great nose" or "earthy texture" or "complex bouquet" a goddamn beer has. It's to partner up with as you while away time, oftentimes for more than one beer or one hour. Beer, to me, is the common man's drink --- a social lubricant built not to get everyone instantly wasted, but rather to allow for hours of interaction. Moving it into elitist, asocial territory where simply liking --- *gasp* a macrobrew --- is worthy of condescension is the gravest of sins. Taste is subjective, not objective. I'd pretty much always have a mass produced lager (there are, of course, some exceptions) than some double IPA or cream stout or whatever else kind of "beer" that you can't drink more than one of. Some very few craft beers provide a welcome exception to the general rule that they pretty much fucking suck. I'll just have a Dos Equis (if I'm feeling particularly heavy in the wallet) or a nice Bud in the bottle, thank you very much. Generally the lagers of the world taste better to me than their ale-like counterparts. Oh, and to top it off I don't generally drink beers on tap if I can avoid it (unless I am pretty familiar with the establishment). I'm an anti-beer snob snob!
    Preach on brother.

      Less criticism, more pickicism.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

        • I've had some miserable Letter management this draft. How in the world am I ending up with:

          1 V
          1 N
          3 Ps
          2 Fs
          2 Ts

              • We're on hold until Feral picks his BY for Jack Quinn. We should have been on hold before the next pitcher was selected. Can't be skipping BY at this stage.

Been more than 30 hours ...

EDIT: Jack Quinn only has one eligible year in the 1900's, and Feral has picked his 6 players from the 1910's, so he will have to pick 1909.

I was thinking he had a choice between a higher W/K and lower ERA/Whip.

                    • I hope no-one minds if I pick tomorrow morning. I need to think about this a little bit and it's 1am. I'll finish updating the History thread.

It's all good. Besides, I'm tracking the drafting times for everyone.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

                              • The fastest round of the draft has been Round 10, in which the average pick time was just over 1 hour and 51 minutes.

In the surprise of the draft, I'm pushing for a top 3 spot in average draft time. I thought I was the human rain delay.
