  • Thyago Vieira w the save tonite for the ChiSox (scoreless inning w a BB and 2 Ks). I've heard of him and I think he throws pretty hard. But he is 25 y/o and had a 5.05 ERA at AAA this year so I wouldnt necessarily rush out to get him. Might be worth a small flyer, tho.

He hasn't pitched in back to back games this year usually having 2-4 days between appearances so I agree, a small flyer.

      • Wonder if Wahl might get some save opps for the Mets. His stats fit the bill and no doubt the competetion is less than stiff.

Maybe the Mets will want to see if he has the moxie before season's end.

08.05... Mets placed RHP Anthony Swarzak on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 4, with right shoulder inflammation.
Spin: Swarzak has past shoulder issues but it's the first time they've crept up on him this season. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined. Swarzak and Robert Gsellman had been sharing the Mets' closer job, so Gsellman certainly looks like the favorite for saves now.

I'd think Jordan Hicks is one. Youth/inexperience aside, he certainly seems to have the closer 'tools' and Norris, while solid this year, ain't there for the long haul (on a 1-year $3MM deal, FA in 2019).

I'm interested in this too, AL particularly.

                          Givens (is closer now, but...)
                          Joe Jimenez?
No idea for KC or MIN but that seems likely to change
