I foresee an Adam Lind trade. Hey our team BA was too high anyway.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Nats scuttle both LaRoche and Soriano. I presume the LaRoche dumping is to clear a spot for Zimmerman.

Players that have received the 15.3 million qualifying offer...

            Melky Cabrera, Blue Jays

            Nelson Cruz, Orioles

            Michael Cuddyer, Rockies

            Francisco Liriano, Pirates

            Russell Martin, Pirates

            Victor Martinez, Tigers

            Hanley Ramirez, Dodgers

            David Robertson, Yankees

            Pablo Sandoval, Giants

            Ervin Santana, Braves

            Max Scherzer, Tigers

            James Shields, Royals

I could see Liriano, Martin, and Cuddyer taking the offers, putting the Pirates in a bit of a pickle...frankly, I would have just let Cuddy go.

I don't see Martin taking it. I agree with you on Cuddyer.

agreed on cuddyer. best years are past him and he's too fragile (fra-gee-lay, like the lamp... ).

Hahahaha the Rockies really gave Cuddyer a QO? Wow. Might as well print his jersey right now.

I don't think Liriano *wants* to take it. I think he's hoping for a deal similar to what Ubaldo got. Given the variability in his performance, he'd be smart to take a 3 or 4 year deal rather than go year to year.

I like the move by the Braves to offer one to Santana. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes it but I think there's a lot of value to having him for only 1 more year.

Robertson will be the interesting one, I think the Yankees would like to have him back at a lot lower yearly salary. How does he weigh 1/15 vs 3/33 or something like that?

Cuddyer was coveted by the Mets, so perhaps they figured he'd decline the QO -- not that the Mets would give up a draft pick to sign him, though. It's hard now to imagine a team giving up a pick and making a contract worth his while now.

Nothing surprises me when it comes to Mets management.

The Astros acquire Hank Conger from the Angels for Stony Brook's own Nick Tropeano and Carlos Perez.

Pirates love them some ex-Yankee catchers (see also Martin, Stewart). Wilson is a pretty nice bullpen arm who will fit well in Yankee Stadium.
