so earlier today i'm looking for the full quote that Roy Batty makes in Bladerunner at the end (it's "All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain..."). i love that quote. i never knew it was unscripted, but in my googling i found that out - rutger hauer made up the last bit. but on the same web site where i found that fact out, there was a description of Full Metal Jacket and the fact that R. Lee Ermey ad-libbed about half of his dialog (not that i like that guy, but he plays a mean drill sergeant - for good reason). then tonight i'm channel-surfing for background noise while i read up on Model-View-Controller software architectures, and Full Metal Jacket is on Encore. weird.
miller, from Repo Man, had it right:
"A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example, show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, "plate," or "shrimp," or "plate o' shrimp" out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness."
