Huh? As a person who lived in Janesville for just about ten years and still has many friends there, Ryan's statement is correct. The plant was shuttered in April/May, 2009. GM had announced the plant would shut in 2008 (about August, if I remember right), and had moved one line of trucks out by the end of the year. But the plant was still cranking out Yukons and Suburbans until it closed mid-Spring, 2009.Originally posted by Moonlight J View Post

Now, the irony in all of this, is that Janesville's plant was one of GM's most efficient plants in the mid-90s with cutting edge robotics and very advanced control systems. In the '96-97 timeframe, GM offered the new car lines - the first of GM's updated cars with improved fuel efficiency - to the Janesville plant. The workers turned it down since those cars made lower margins and would reduce their bonuses.I'm just here for the baseball.
