  • The Romney campaign is too afraid to send Ryan to Florida... or maybe not:

    • The Villages is the softest landing spot in the state. It's where they would send Bush when he made his Florida visits. I'm all too familiar with it as that is where my grandparents lived for 20 years until my grandfather passed a few years ago.

      • Florida is a Tea sipping state, and Ryan is definitely Tea Party material.

Ryan is not having a good week with the music industry. Dee Snider also forced him to stop playing "We're Not Gonna Take It" at campaign stops.

          • Should Ryan limit himself only to non socialist bands?

Country & Western (excluding the Dixie Chicks) should be pretty safe.

Romney looks like he's going to try to start opening with "Born in the U.S.A.". Some one warn Springsteen.

Missed this earlier. So, based on your logic, Obama is owned by the SEIU, right? After all, they spent wayyyy more on his 2008 campaign than the Koch's did in Wisconsin.

Frankly, I know neither is true, despite the objections on both sides. If the Kochs are so vested in Wisconsin government, exactly how have they been paid off? I'm pretty familiar with just about any assets they have in Wisconsin - I've worked extensively at one of them, and less at two others - so, I'm game. I've already named two fallacies thrown out by the left in Wisconsin that were "sure" to happen if Walker was elected, and then kept in office, and neither have a scrap of truth in them. So, what's next? Georgia-Pacific being exempt from state air quality regs? Nope, not happening. Koch's investing over $100MM in pollution control equipment in Green Bay. G-P being removed from the PCB costs (which happened many years before Koch by a local paper company now part of G-P, BTW)? Nope, again, not happening. That's gonna be a $200MM+ bill before it's done, maybe more.

So, what's the payoff? Get off the theoretical, and give me something real. I'm game.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I'll play...so if there's no payoff anywhere, why have the Koch bothers invested so heavily in the Republican party in general, and Wisconsin in particular?

They have more money than they know what to do with and actually believe in the libertarian views they espouse. I suspect spending in Wisconsin was due to daughter #2 who spends a lot of time in the state.

I'm open to debate, but I can't come up with one snatch of anything that's financially benefitted the Kochs since Walker was elected. If you've got something, I'm open to hearing it. I know there were two major utility projects coming up that all the libs were sure Koch would get. Both were absolute phantasms. There's two major outstanding bills hanging over a major Koch subsidiary that aren't being changed.

This is going to sound conspiratorial, but I doubt that it would ever be anything that someone could point to and say "AH HAH!"...politics are usually a bit more subtle than that. Much like SISU, they probably want their guys in power because their guys are going to be either in agreement as to what their philosophy is, or simply will do things the way that they want. And eventually, when push comes to shove, you have people in places where you need them to accomplish what you need...
