      I think that the GOP will actually "own" it at this point, simply because they've been promising for years to repeal it, and no find themselves in real danger of not being able to do it. Also, the public actually likes the ACA more than not, and this turmoil has made people in poor circumstances realize that Obamacare and the ACA are one and the same, and people actually liked their ACA.

      I believe that it's actually easier to fix something that works, albit somewhat poorly in many respects, than to create something from whole cloth with the main goal seemingly to toss millions off of their insurance.

      Again, single payer is real fix, and trump could probably sweep to a 2nd term if he's push lowering the age of Medicare eligibility to 55...

                Seriously - part of the reason we are in this mess is that Congress passed a bill that many if not most of them had no idea what the hell was in it. It was more about passing something so everyone had coverage, than actually understanding what we the people were going to get. Obamacare was no great healthcare plan, it was a charade to appease the "D" voters and establish Obama's legacy.

                If we hadnt have jumped without looking, we wouldnt be in the health care conundrum we are now in.

                  It did succeed in its primary goal - moving the discussion to the the left. No longer are we talking about whether the govt should pay for another entitlement, its only how much should we pay and for how many people.

                    Yea, they really rushed ACA through. 70+ hearings & 14 months to get it out.

                      and after 70+ hearings and 14 months - most everyone that voted had no real understanding of what they were voting for, or how badly it would impact so many. Im not trying to defend what is being done now or what they are trying to cram through now.

                        Then that's on them...if you don't know what's in a bill after 14 months, or your staff doesn't know, nobody to blame but yourself. 14 months is pretty thoughtful...did they make mistakes? Sure, but it wasn't for lack of research and effort.
