  • Does anyone else update their lists? In the past year, I've added:

    Big Boy
    Les Claypool
    Depeche Mode
    Polyphonic Spree
Tim Kasher (frontman for Cursive, we went to the same high school, 2 years ahead of me...real cool dude and puts on a great show)
    Devo
    Howard Jones
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

Bullshit is everywhere. - George Carlin (& Jon Stewart)

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? - Satchel Paige

    • I just updated mine, though I haven't been to much since my son was born. The only new artists added since early 2012: The Avett Brothers, Dr. Dog, Dean Ween and Friends.

However, it was nice to be able to scan that list to come up with more ideas for the 80s-90s album draft.

              • I know I'm missing a few (mostly from my drunken, weed days of the early to mid-90's. Broken down in to categories (some might not fit in the exact "category, but anyways)...

"80's" New Wave-ish Bands (Which I mostly grew up on and saw some in my teen years but most on the Retro/Nostalgia circuit)
                ABC
                Adam Ant
Alarm, The (multiple times - Mike Peters solo quite a few times as well)
                Bad Religion
                B-52s
                Bangles, The
                Berlin
Big Country (fronted by Mike Peters)
                Blondie
                Bow Wow Wow
                Buzzcocks, The
                Cult, The
                Cure,The
                Cutting Crew
                Depeche Mode
                Devo
                Dramarama
Echo & The Bunnymen (the last time I saw them was with an orchestra doing the entire Ocean Rain album - AMAZING)
                Elvis Costello
                Fishbone
Fixx, The (Still a great show - Cy Curnin is a great showman)
Flock of Seagulls (seems like they are at the New Wave bar in LA every other week - yes, there is a bar that is ALL 80's/New Wave. I call it Nirvana)
Gene Loves Jezebel (both versions - the Aston twins hate each other and have their own GLJ)
                Go-Gos
                Happy Mondays
                Heaven 17
                Hoodoo Gurus
                INXS
Jello Biafra (but never Dead Kennedys) sad face
                Joe Jackson
                Misfits
                Missing Persons
Morrissey (last time I saw him, the wanker literally played a venue right down the street from my house and only played 10 songs)
                Naked Eyes
                New Order
Oingo Boingo (fondest of memories seeing them many times. Recently saw Johnny Vatos' band he does with other former members of OB (Johnny Avila, Carl Graves, Sluggo and sometimes Steve Bartek joins them)
                OMD
Paul Weller (but never The Jam) major sadface
Peter Murphy (but never Bauhaus) sad face
Plimsouls, The (one of the more underrated bands in history, IMO)
                Police, the
                Psychedelic Furs
                Public Image Ltd.
                Ramones, The
                Squeeze
                Stray Cats
                Tears for Fears
                They Might Be Giants
                U2
                Ub40
                Wall of Voodoo
                Wang Chung
When in Rome (They actually threw out Napoleon Dynamite bobblehead dolls when they did "The Promise")
                X

                My Hard Rock Phase
                Aerosmith
                Alice Cooper
                Anthrax
Arcade (Stephen Pearcy's band after RATT)
                Asphalt Ballet
                Body Count (Ice T)
Candlebox (don't judge me - it was part of the Metallica "Summer Shit" tour)
                Cheap Trick
                Danzig
                Faith no More
                Guns n Roses
I Mother Earth (one of the best sows I've ever seen in a small club by a band with a minor hit on modern rock radio - Still listen to their album from time to time. Good stuff)
                Infectious Grooves
                KISS
Korn (in a small bar in San Diego before they hit big. Thought they sucked then, but it was crazy seeing a band playing metal with a frontman in a kilt playing bagpipes)
                Metallica
                Motley Crue
                Ozzy
                Pantera
                Pink Floyd
                Poison
                Queensryche
Rob Halford (never Judas Preist, though) sadface
                Sammy Hagar
                Slaughter
                Suicidal Tendencies
                Tesla
                Type O Negative

Didn't see the invite or the thread until too late. Other than today, I wouldn't have much time to participate and follow it anyway.

I didn't have them on my list either, guess I was being overly generous calling their live show 'awesome'. I was there with a friend's husband who'd traveled from SD just to see them and he's one of those guys who's overflowing with enthusiasm.

                            • Now, chances are I was one or more of these three things: 1) stoned 2) sick 3) exhausted. Weed makes me tired. I had to have been in Baltimore for other reasons because I wouldn't have traveled there from NJ just to see them. Now that I think about it, it was probably a business trip. I met up with a friend from the Phish scene and AMT was already in his plans.

                              • So, my daughter posted this on Facebook, begging for a concert date...

                                That's a pretty good lineup. In 1994.

There are actually a lot of bands on there that I missed in their heyday, but the idea of spending three entire days with a mass of stinking, stupid humanity... guh. I can't do it.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master - that's all."
