The Foo Fighters are 1000x better than anything I've seen you post in the exceelent music thread. It's all opinion, mang.

Like you say, opinion ... Foo Fighters are a 2nd rate rock band with a couple of songs.

Quite liked their first record, the second record had a few good tunes ... and the rest has been ho-hum apart from the odd tune. Hardly world beating stuff ... wouldn't pay a dime to see them live. In another day and age, they would just be another band.

Even with the good songs, I've never really been interested in anything Dave Grohl has had to say in his music. He seems like a really nice guy ... and he has a great howl and stage presence ... just not very interesting. I remember him slamming regular rock bands when he was with Nirvana, then he went on to become one. Last night he was slamming electronic music and talking about "real musicianship", then we see him dancing away to Deadmau5. I like the guy, but I sense he's a bit full of it.

Tom Jones was ok, not much of a fan. I preferred Englebert Humperdink. Again I appreciated those guys but didn't own any of their music. I was a rocker from early on.

Like Igor said they showed it on the news yesterday, the escort, and today the gov of NJ announced the flag flying for the entire state. That honor should be reserved for the military like it has been traditionally or true American heroes not drug addicts who haven't been relevant in decades.

For all her substance abuse problems, though, she was very socially-conscious in her charity work and cause advocacy throughout her career, so beyond the music, there is a reasonable case to be made for civic recognition of her civic contributions.
