I noticed about 10 years ago that teens had no fear at all of going before the camera...even at that stage they'd been doing it all their lives. Now, they've grown up being on video and it's as natural to them as breathing...makes my job a damn sight easier at spot news events.

this was very evident again at the Little League World Series this year - especially the Sunday night Mets-Phillies game in Williamsport. the kids like to meet the MLBers, but the ones I saw weren't that starstruck. plus they had no hesitation at doing live TV interviews (granted that an ideal kid can be picked, but to Hornsby's point you'd be lucky to find even one kid BITD)

Glad no one was hurt and your daughter became a celebrity...but all I could think about at the 0:10 point in the video was "which of those woods do Mith's dog's crap in ?"

one time working at a gas station at night a car flew in and hit the curb and flew and hit the building next to it. i called 911 right away and ran over, but then i had to run back because tons of people showed up and i didn't lock the door.

a newspaper interviewed me and i sounded really stoned. so i wouldn't do an interview if it happened again. later on, one of the guys friends came by the station and thanked me. i guess the guy lived.

also, one time i saw a house on fire driving in the landscape truck. and then 100 feet away i saw a cop. so i pulled over and told him. you feel kind of silly telling someone a house is on fire up the street.

that would be a top death for me, rescuing someone in a fire and dying. it would just be a tee-shirt of the week, but if i had to choose a way to go, that would be it.
