  • I disagree with Gwynn that "they'd rather watch it burn than allow it to go on as is." Just irrational, as in we get our way or it is a suicide pact situation? You need to strap a bomb on your waist and lay waste to decades of future SCOTUS. Look, the numbers are there, millions more people voted for HRC so it is not just delegate/superdelegate magic, and now Bernie does not have a path.

Someone will be next President, the choice is binary, either HRC or Trump. Trump has already listed his choices for Supreme Court appointees, and one is more conservative than the next, we can effectively set back civil rights decades, as well as give a lunatic the nuclear button. This is the ultimate cut off your nose to spite your face move, and not worthy of an evolved person to truly think that is correct path.

I feel that way. Fuck this system. Let it burn.

      • Cool, let me address the points.

My opinion is supported by national polls which show Sanders both ahead of Hillary and Trump, but yeah it's just my opinion... And the pollsters.

I know she has millions more votes, I could formulate an election process that would get me voted the most attractive, intelligent and diplomatic member of rotojunkie. But we all know that if it were an open election designed to result in the people's choice I wouldn't come close. The Democratic primary isn't to find the people's choice, it's to validate the party's choice. Which is fine, but don't pretend it's something other than what it is.

If sanders supporters have been anything, it's committed. They'll be there and if you think Nevada was an isolated incident, you'll learn soon enough as the National will be just as contentious.

Bernie can do harm to hillarys shot at the white house, sure he ran as a Democrat.,he had to, but that's another discussion we've hashed out. He's also still an admitted socialist, so I don't know why you're saying otherwise because both of your points regarding this are absolutely incorrect.

As far as them voting for Trump, some will, some will vote for bernie and some will stay home but Hillary won't get more than half his supporters. This is my opinion based on hours upon hours and days upon days being among thousands of Sanders supporters and campaign staff.

Have any of you even been to ONE Sanders rally or event? If not, you really have no idea of the mentality sure the Sanders supporters in here are pretty rational outside of me, but we're also all in the same demographic. I'm telling you there is a significant percentage of his supporters who don't give a shit about anything but denying Clinton the presidency and others who'd trade a scotus nominee to see the country system embarrassed by Trump.

But it's OK, you'll see soon enough if Sanders is as important as I claim or whether or not his supporters will fall in line without Bernie's avocation.

On this site, which is composed of mostly older white males which makes up the smallest percentage of Sanders supporters demographically.

I'm also curious who "the two biggest HRC supporters on the site" are. I'm going to have to get eyeball replacement surgery from rolling them so hard if I'm one of them.
Again, if you haven't even been to a Sanders rally how can you possibly know anything about it?

If you're not a Hillary supporter, she certainly could use a few more non supporters like you.

But in case people wanted actual, real information about who Sanders supporters will vote for in the general:

I'm not a supporter of Hillary. I'm an opponent of bullshit, including the bullshit you're peddling on this topic.

That's cool, but again I find it ironic you use a poll to say I'm full of shit and then claim Hillary is the people's choice when those same polls show otherwise.

And yeah, you need to be involved in the process to speak intelligently on such an emotional topic.

I have done phone banking and nearly all of the people I met were old white folks. And few, if any, of them appeared ready to let the whole system burn just to stop the EVIL ONE.

Was it a Hilary Phone bank? :P

Because that's not at all what i saw in Nevada, where there were over 4000 Sanders supporters present.

Again, Chris--people may be speaking passionately when I'm in their midst, maybe they're the outlier, maybe Nevada IS an isolated incident.

the national convention should let us all know real quick what is what, until then I'll trust MY personal experience on the subject.

If involved means attending rallies with like minded cheer leaders, that seems to have little relationship to being able to speak intelligently on topic. If involved means actively fact checking the steady stream of noise, in face of emotion guided but well meaning people, I think that aligns more with you need to be involved in the process to speak intelligently on such an emotional topic
                    .

But your mileage may vary. I am stunned that the binary aspect of race cannot be accepted, that this is between 2 people, and you need to choose the "best, as defined by you as most qualified, or maybe as most disruptive, ignorant, sensational, and likely to cause a nuclear winter.

                    • heh this reminds me of a disagreement I had with someone else regarding an At bat.

I was right there and saw the at bat, though from my perspective and using my years of experience, that it was a good at bat. the other guy was at home using stat tracker or qeusttech or some analytic gizmo and was sure it was a poor at bat.

Bottomline for me is, I was there--you weren't. I'll be trusting my take over yours and if my eyes and mind are fooling me, so be it.

I get it Chris, but Clinton supporters are NOT the same as sanders supporters.

You can reason with most people 40+ not so much with younger folks who seem to think they know everything ;P

As it does with most things in life.

I'm waiting for Nate Silver's analysis of how many Sanders supporters just won't vote, not that they'll vote for Trump

Yup. His SCOTUS list had already helped that along.

A few months ago there was lots of talk about Utah being a possible win for Hillary or Sanders if Trump was the candidate and polls backed that up. In the paper yesterday was a poll showing Trump 12 points over Hillary in the state. It is easy to say "I won't vote for X no matter what" but when you go into the booth and click that button how many people really vote against 'their' party? A would think a very small % (as in 1% or 2% tops) of people switch and vote for a 3rd party candidate or a different party candidate regardless of how much they hate 'their' candidate.
