I get this and I understand your reasoning behind it.

You'd never know it from my on forum persona, but I am one of the most polite and considerate people you'll ever meet. I know, pick yourself up.

I've spent time as a teacher and my experience was this. I have no problem teaching less intelligent/talented individuals who show a genuine interest in learning, but I simply cannot abide those with no desire to seek knowledge or truth. It vexes me very much as even though I think I'm pretty damn smart about most things, I still seek to be educated at every turn and am not adverse to changing my mind if a cohesive argument can be presented.

It's also my issue that I expect everyone to seek the same enlightenment whenever they can so those who ignore any opportunity to learn or have honest discourse irritate me as well. And it's not just those who do it once or twice, it's those who have consistently stood on the side of willful ignorance for years that i have trouble NOT being snarky to.

I also think that's part of the issue, being nice to those who deserve a swift smack upside the head has led to our current environment of ignorance and ironically, rudeness.

If you think that bananas make you gay, you are wrong. STOP saying it. To continue to do so is not only incorrect but dangerous because someone else might believe you and that would be bad because the more uneducated people there are, the worse it is for society as a whole. If I have asked you politely to stop, shown you factually why you are wrong and yet you continue there comes a time when you have to stop being nice and just tell someone wake the fuck up.

I could list many more examples of how sparing someones feelings have in fact made our situation worse, but hopefully you get the picture.

So Gregg. To a point I agree with you, but even Jesus went after people in anger when they desecrated the temple. And if he can get pissed and and say WTF? I think we should be allowed to as well.
