Aren't you recently returned from a self imposed time out from the site? One where you swore off the bar for good? Remind us all again what that was about.

          Glad you asked, really.

I left not because of anything other than, and forgive me for saying this, Jason's handling of Wife-gate at least that was my perception of the situation. At the same time there was a situation in our staff league that I felt he'd also mishandled. So my issue with him was two fold. In his defense, I know now that he was extraordinarily busy and really didn't have the time necessary to be a proactive moderator here and commissioner for our league. In my opinion his reactive responses exacerbated both situations which could have been resolved had he actually taken the time rather than just attributing fault to as he put it, Doig Drama. That said, I know now how thinly stretched he was in his personal and professional life and that RJ and our league were far from major concerns. Had I known then of his circumstance maybe things would have ended differently. Personally, I was also gleaning my life at the time of negativity so I too was starting to prioritize my life in other directions and RJ as fun as it can be, sometimes needs to be moved to the back burner.

I had no issue with the pile on from what I perceived as those who were just waiting for something to blow out of proportion, which it was. I made a joke as I do all the time and some people took offense which i at the time and still today guarantee would not have happened if the situation played out in person. I felt like though some were truly upset, others took the opportunity to pile on and just give me shit. I didn't apologize because my intent was not malicious. as for the pile on, irritating as it was it was not why I left as I've handled myself in more vitriolic situations in person and emerged unscathed.

No it was the fact that MY presence was causing a division on the site that the moderator was unprepared or unwilling but most likely didn't have the time to handle in an effective manner.

I returned to my league once there was a new commish in place and here once a new moderator took over. I have also been keen to make sure I only use my type of humor with those who can understand it.

FWIW I never said I wouldn't be back, I may have intimated that I didn't want to return.

Also, Jason probably had no idea I felt this way because I never told him and he never asked.

So I hope that explains things a bit.

And yes, I do enjoy this place...again.

                  Seems relevant.

I'd read it but I really don't care.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

If you did, you'd know there's a big difference between apathy and fuck-not-givingness.

Gregg, you're into revisionist history if you think that there we're epic wars back in the day. As Doig said, this has been a part of this place since day one, and it's only in it's most recent incarnation that things have settled down to become fairly vanilla. They allowed flame wars all the time, they didn't allow swearing, which sometimes led to more creative posts...i'm almost sorry I mentioned that we should grow up as a site and allow swearing...seems to have taken some of the creativity out of the place.

And debates tended to be derailed when people ran out of new things to say, and instead started repeating themselves...every once in a while a thread was shut down, but it was pretty rare.

I don't know if this is true, but I've thought the same thing before. Some do seem to enjoy being jerks to others.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?
