  • San Andreas was a lot of fun. The physics of the special effects were extremely good. I'll probably see it again, although that means having to sit through Ben and Blake again. The first time it was funny ... I'm not sure how amusing it'll be second time around. I belly laughed out loud when Ben said "Blake!" as the building was collapsing, after having only met her for 30 seconds in the waiting room.

... ahhhh ... he's Australian. I was wondering why his accent was so ridiculous.

    Spoiler!

    • Three Days of the Condor - haven't seen this movie in years. It was kinda weird re-watching it after so long. So many parts would be completely unacceptable by today's social standards. At one point Redford's character bumps into a random black guy, and says something like "can you help me break into my car .... you must have broke into a few cars right?". And the relationship with the Faye Dunaway character was very strange ... so Redford basically kidnaps and rapes her, right ... and in the movie she comes to like and accept it, and then continues afterwards as if she's relaxed about what's happened ... even a fond farewell. They were clearly aiming for a kind of ambiguity and edginess, but from a clearly very misogynistic position.

Says a lot about what we all regarded as socially acceptable not that long ago. I don't think when I last saw this movie in the 90's (maybe even later) these issues would have been so glaring.

Still a decent movie though ... well ... apart from the misogyny and random everyday racism.

Blake was a lot hotter in true detectives

It's a common problem in women's magazines ... "Top 10 tips in how to look hot when the apocalypse strikes" ... I think she did a decent job of it.

          • I shut off two rentals in the last couple of weeks after about 30-45 minutes:
            - Mortdecai -- just turrble
            - Inherent Vice -- wanted to really like this movie, but it just rambled and rambled. Was really hoping for more from PT Anderson.

I didn't even go there. The trailer said everything.

Reviews weren't as great as the trailer looked, still planning on seeing it. PT Anderson can be a frustrating director but I don't think I've ever actually disliked any of his movies.

                          • Jurassic World - I thought it was excellent. The 2 younger actors were terrific, the humour was well executed (lot's of Jurassic in-jokes and references), and the action was great.

                            Only 70% on RT.

I've heard it was well received, but I've plenty to be getting on with, so I'll probably wait for the movie.
