I do not know why I have never watched the 1947 film The Bishops Wife? It stars Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven. What a fun movie!
Mrs. Gregg and I loved it. We can't wait to share it with our adult children and Grandson. Beautifully filmed, great acting, some humor. We think this is going into the rotation of Christmas movies that traditionally take place between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I do not know if it was picked in our Black and White movie draft but it would have made my list if had seen it pre draft.

I've discovered that you're right, much of 1970s/1980s comedy relied on miscommunication, which many kids simply can't relate to these days. The smartphone basically killed everything, which is why many movies these days have to turn to being a pre-smartphone "period piece."

I have always enjoyed the exaggerated truths to the point of silliness this movie brings. Parodies of real life, many I can relate to. Mrs. Gregg and I watched it last week and still laughed. We still have a little Sparky and Ellen in us, but now we are bumping up to the grandparents. So yes it does remind us that we are getting older. Still worth the time for us.
