So let's just destroy the economy of a key NATO ally with an impulsive, reckless Tweet? Just to appease his ignorant base?

Has Turkey acted like a key NATO ally lately?

They certainly have not. But don't you see how this could permanently damage relations? I thought this momo was a "great negotiator"? All he does is use the biggest threat he has right out the box. What if Turkey starts to embrace Russia because of this? What if they start to threaten use of Incirlik?

They already have been embracing Russia. Nearly everything Turkey has done in at least the time since Trump's been president has been pretty crappy. That's why Trump was criticized for congratulating Erdogan after "winning" the last election. Trump seems to like to be friendly with strongmen/dictators and then hit them with sanctions later. I wish we would prevent the sale of the F-35's to them, but maybe we need the sale who knows...

              • “China can easily find other countries to buy agricultural goods from instead of the U.S., its vice agriculture minister said, warning that American farmers could permanently lose their share of the Chinese market as a result of the trade war.

“Many countries have the willingness and they totally have the capacity to take over the market share the U.S. is enjoying in China. If other countries become reliable suppliers for China, it will be very difficult for the U.S. to regain the market,” Han Jun told official Xinhua news agency in an interview on Friday.

He also warned that American farmers could lose the position in the Chinese market they have spent several decades building up. Han said they may not be able to make up the losses brought by retaliatory tariffs, even with the White House’s planned $12 billion aid package for farmers caught in the dispute.”

                • A manufacturer of storage safes is closing its two Chicago-area factories and moving operations to Mexico, in part because of the Trump administration’s tariffs on metal from China.

Stack-On Products plans to lay off 128 people at its facility in north suburban Wauconda and 25 people at its McHenry plant when it closes both facilities Oct. 12, said Al Fletcher, human resources director for Alpha Guardian, the Las Vegas-based parent company.

                    • Add SPAM maker Hormel Foods to the growing list of US companies suffering collateral damage from the global trade war. Hormel reported sales Thursday that were below forecasts and issued a cautious outlook, partly because of tariffs on US agricultural products.

The company, which also owns the Skippy peanut butter, Jennie-O turkey and Applegate Natural and Organic Meats, said pork export volume, sales, and profitability declined sharply in the quarter. Chairman and CEO Jim Snee said tariffs on steel and aluminum exports, as well as pork, would likely hurt earnings this year. Shares of Hormel (HRL) fell 3% Thursday on the news.

Hormel isn't the only food company to get hit by tariffs.

Poultry producer Sanderson Farms also said in its earnings report Thursday that global trade skirmishes were hurting results. Grain costs have gone up lately. Shares of Sanderson (SAFM) were down nearly 4%.

Meat giant Tyson (TSN) said last month that the trade war was eating into its profits as well.

Agreed, the stupidity can't last forever. But how is an investor to know when Dopey Donald will let up? This is why the stock market has gyrated wildly this year -- on the whims of a moronic man-child.

                              • And China retaliates with tariffs on another $60Bn of US imports, effective September 24th. With the fear being China is running out of imports to tariff, the expectation is that they'll use another tactic of increasing inspections and clearances and other forms of harassment.
