Not that I'm paying close attention, and no idea why you're deflecting, but it sounds like the [formerly] US-backed Syrian rebels are getting routed and Israel is getting more involved. No clue what you're referring to about Libya.

What are you talking about? Nobody should discuss anything here because they're not reaching anyone? So what are you doing here then?

If he can get even some of the Bernie voters that didn't support Hillary, he could be a really strong candidate.

BTW, that was a good line/jab at Bloomberg SS. That sort of big-brother paternalism would definitely be something Bloomberg would have to be able to address to win, if he runs.
Don't know much about him really, I suspect that I would not support him, but I'd need to look into it. If he ran against Trump I'd probably vote for him : ) Actually probably not, living in Washington it is pretty safe for me to vote for whoever I want, the Dem candidate for Pres is going to win this state.

If you really think you were discussing something then I'll just drop it. I had ODS, I know how it feels...

“As soon as Trump did what his detractors wanted [by halting the separations], they sledgehammered him for it… this proves that there is nothing, short of chugging hemlock, that Trump can do to please these people, whose hatred for him is bottomless. And if Trump did down hemlock, they would critique the cup in his cold fingers.” (Wichita Eagle)

I don't agree with this. I think most said that halting the separations was a good first step, but let's talk about what else needs to happen to address/ameliorate/mitigate the humanitarian crisis at the border.

Outstanding read, thanks for posting! I really agree with the three points at the end:

If liberals truly give a micro-damn about keeping illegal-alien families whole, rather than using them to bludgeon Trump, they should support three policies:

First, fund and erect Trump’s “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall.” The U.S.-Mexican “border” is a 24-7 crime scene, steeped in bedlam. If parents know that they will encounter 30 feet of vertical concrete, they will avoid this dangerous journey, which will keep them with their children.

Second, asylum seekers must stop breaking and entering into America as if it were an unlit house. Families who apply for asylum at official border crossings — such as Hidalgo, Texas — are considered legal applicants, kept together, and handled through a lawful process.

Third, Democrats and Republicans alike should support a global public-relations campaign to tell the rest of this planet: “Just as you expect people to knock on your front door rather than come in through the bathroom window, America no longer will tolerate human invasions along our southern border. If you want to come to the USA, visit the closest U.S. embassy and complete a visa application. When we are ready for you, we will let you know.”

That was exactly my point. If Democrats honestly wanted to resolve the DACA or immigration situation, they’d find some common ground with the moderate GOP Congress critters. But it’s better to bitch than to resolve. Bitching and grandstanding gets money for campaigns. Resolution moves the country forward. Who’d ever want that!?!? The GOP House couldn’t even agree yesterday on a proposal and with no Dems willing to soil themselves by being labeled enablers of the GOP, more nothing gets done and another day, week, month, year passes. Talk about obstructionists! Anyone in congress should have that label. It isn’t owned by either party!

And when the Dems now demand that McConnell not use the nuke option for SCOTUS appointment, why the frick not. Harry Reid made it possible. Elections have consequences. Because the Dens were so arrogant to think this wouldn’t come back in them at some point in the future this is the crap we’re left with. And it shouldn’t be this why again for either party!

Sorry to vent, having a bad day and I’m just pissed.

I said last week the democrats were just playing politics as usual and just like your editorial says, as soon as the dems got what they wanted they whined about what they got. The dem position: "Separating children from their parents is inhumane!" A few hours later: "Keeping children with their parents is inhumane!" Coming soon: "Borders are inhumane!" I think a large portion of dems are already at that last one.

                            • While I disagreed with Bernie's pull-quote from the article, I'm basically okay with two-thirds of the "support three policies" recommendation.

We should do everything we can to steer asylum seekers to embassies and official border crossings. The corollary is that we need to fund and staff those places much better, so that after the proposed "global public relations campaign" we're ready to receive and efficiently process asylum petitions without the need to detain families for weeks/months.

As for the "impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall", I think it's impractical. The amount it would cost to make it complete and impenetrable across such a long border is absurd given that the most common form of "illegal" immigration by far is people overstaying their visas.

                              • From the article - "First, fund and erect Trump’s “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall.” The U.S.-Mexican “border” is a 24-7 crime scene, steeped in bedlam. Wasn't it OneJ, the ultra-Rebuplican, who talked about Palestinians simply digging under the wall Israel had built? So I am supposed to agree to fund a multi-billion dollar wall that, per OneJ, people can dig under or, per the Donald himself, can use a rope to help climb over and get into our country? The Berlin Wall was semi-effective but it was much shorter and had armed guards willing to follow orders to shoot anyone trying to cross. I don't see how the wall with Mexico will work other than doing what the Russians did, clearing out 100 yards or so from the wall and manning in 24-7 with the army. Yes there are cities right on the border but we will have to destroy their homes/businesses to clear out the area for their own safety. Yes there is desert areas on the border but we will man them with guard towers and barbed wire and flood lights behind the wall to shoot anyone trying to cross. Yes we have a budget deficit but that only matters when Democrats spend money we don't have, not the Republicans.
