But really, I don't know. I'd like to hear from the hard-core Bernie supporters on here (any left--Feral Slasher and?) about whether they'd support Bloomberg if he were the nominee, or if they think it would be a mistake to go for an ex-Republican, fiscal conservative, but social liberal. If he can get even some of the Bernie voters that didn't support Hillary, he could be a really strong candidate.
BTW, that was a good line/jab at Bloomberg SS. That sort of big-brother paternalism would definitely be something Bloomberg would have to be able to address to win, if he runs.---------------------------------------------

This is kind of a good editorial take on where we are:

“As soon as Trump did what his detractors wanted [by halting the separations], they sledgehammered him for it… this proves that there is nothing, short of chugging hemlock, that Trump can do to please these people, whose hatred for him is bottomless. And if Trump did down hemlock, they would critique the cup in his cold fingers.” (Wichita Eagle)I know in my heart that man is good. If liberals truly give a micro-damn about keeping illegal-alien families whole, rather than using them to bludgeon Trump, they should support three policies:
First, fund and erect Trump’s “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall.” The U.S.-Mexican “border” is a 24-7 crime scene, steeped in bedlam. If parents know that they will encounter 30 feet of vertical concrete, they will avoid this dangerous journey, which will keep them with their children.
Second, asylum seekers must stop breaking and entering into America as if it were an unlit house. Families who apply for asylum at official border crossings — such as Hidalgo, Texas — are considered legal applicants, kept together, and handled through a lawful process.
Third, Democrats and Republicans alike should support a global public-relations campaign to tell the rest of this planet: “Just as you expect people to knock on your front door rather than come in through the bathroom window, America no longer will tolerate human invasions along our southern border. If you want to come to the USA, visit the closest U.S. embassy and complete a visa application. When we are ready for you, we will let you know.”"The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden, beyond the hugs, kisses and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable." -NY Times

While I disagreed with Bernie's pull-quote from the article, I'm basically okay with two-thirds of the "support three policies" recommendation.
When we are ready for you, we will let you know.”
As for the "impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall", I think it's impractical. The amount it would cost to make it complete and impenetrable across such a long border is absurd given that the most common form of "illegal" immigration by far is people overstaying their visas.

From the article - "First, fund and erect Trump’s “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall.” The U.S.-Mexican “border” is a 24-7 crime scene, steeped in bedlam. Wasn't it OneJ, the ultra-Rebuplican, who talked about Palestinians simply digging under the wall Israel had built? So I am supposed to agree to fund a multi-billion dollar wall that, per OneJ, people can dig under or, per the Donald himself, can use a rope to help climb over and get into our country? The Berlin Wall was semi-effective but it was much shorter and had armed guards willing to follow orders to shoot anyone trying to cross. I don't see how the wall with Mexico will work other than doing what the Russians did, clearing out 100 yards or so from the wall and manning in 24-7 with the army. Yes there are cities right on the border but we will have to destroy their homes/businesses to clear out the area for their own safety. Yes there is desert areas on the border but we will man them with guard towers and barbed wire and flood lights behind the wall to shoot anyone trying to cross. Yes we have a budget deficit but that only matters when Democrats spend money we don't have, not the Republicans.
