  • Looks like we've got a good chance for a Federal Government shutdown tomorrow...and I guess that it's all the Democrats fault. After all, the GOP only controls the House, the Senate, and the Presidency...

Those dirty Democrats! Shutting down the Government like that! Over something as trivial as people's lives and health...SAD!

    • Well, we've got a a government shutdown. Despite the fact that the GOP owns all the legislative branches of Government. Despite the fact that the President once said a government shutdown needs to be laid at the feet of the President, nowhere else. But of course, that President was Barack Obama, so...

The GOP is trying to blame the Dems for not accepting their offer to fund CHIP, and to "promise" to find a solution for the dreamers that works for all. Yeah, the public isn't buying it either, polls show that people hold the GOP responsible by a 20 point margin...

Now is the time for that old fashioned idea of negotiating a deal that benefits ALL the people, rather than just trying to shove bills through by sheer force.

Funny, didn't he used to say that the "real unemployment number" was closer to like 40%? So is he quoting actual unemployment numbers, or his "real" unemployment numbers? It's all so confusing!

            • These fucks simply have no shame...the Koch brothers gave Ryan a half a million right after the tax bill was passed, and now this ad pops up right after the shutdown began.

              • "The New York Times reports Trump ordered Mueller to be fired in June, according to four people with knowledge of the matter.

Trump reportedly said Mueller had conflicts of interest in his investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, including a dispute over fees at Trump’s National Golf Club in Virginia and Mueller’s previous employment at a law firm that represent Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, according to the Times.

However, McGahn reportedly refused the president's order and threatened to quit, believing that Trump's order would further stir speculation that the president was obstructing justice in the Russia investigation."

                • i ordered a Putin beefcake 2018 calendar for work. we all share the same calendar, no desks... i don't know what i was thinking. but after defacing the calendar my female co-workers put up last year. what i do is mock their calendar and try to make them get a new one. but they have failed to put one up yet this year. like i would put a huge pirate ship in July's beach scene.. and with Ukraine, Putin shouldn't be esteemed.

but then i think what would happen if i put a Russian calendar at work? would anyone even notice? so it has this human experiment element to it.

                  • Pretty damning:

"President Trump not only sought to have special counsel Robert Mueller fired, he also sought to discredit top FBI officials out of fear that they could be witnesses against him.

Following former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate intelligence committee last June, Trump ordered aides to smear three potential FBI witnesses who could confirm that the President tried to end or influence Mueller’s investigation, Foreign Policy reported on Friday.

Trump, who was reportedly talked down from ordering Mueller’s dismissal last June after White House lawyer Don McGahn threatened to quit, fired Comey a month earlier.

He admitted terminating Comey was related to the Russia investigation.

Trump targeted former acting and current deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, Comey’s chief of staff Jim Rybicki and former FBI general counsel James Baker, after Comey mentioned them in his testimony, according to Foreign Policy."

                    • i have to give trump credit for imposing 30% tariff on chinese solar panel imports. unfortunately it's over 15 years too late and companies like ENER, ESLR, ASTI, DSTI have already been savaged and in some cases like ESLR their tech has already been bought after bankruptcy by China. ..but it's a start. it's a pro-global warming move too. the best way to using alternative energy is good solar panel efficiency and cheap costs, a healthy industry. Bush and Obama didn't do shit for the solar panel industry. they both knew exactly what they needed to do, and they didn't do it. and you can blame Clinton for the dot come bubble burst that caused them to never be able to recover once the chinese government started subsidizing and selling solar panels for cheaper than it cost to make them. they bankrupted our industry.

                      • Trump the Blowhard has become a caricature of himself. He now claims he would have "negotiated Brexit differently".

Ask yourself. What has Trump successfully negotiated since he became President? A legislative package? A trade deal? A major treaty? A congressional compromise on any significant issue? Remember, Trump the candidate bragged that he could make deals with Congress as a whole, Democrats and Republicans. The conclusion seems clear that he wants to hold himself out as a deal maker, but without the massive economic advantage he has when bullying poor contractors around, he is just another guy full of bluff and bluster.

Many of his supporters have been forced into positions of intellectual dishonesty. Many claim they support him because he acts like a businessman, but what has he done that is businesslike? Many claim that they support him because he tells it like it is, but he prevaricates and changes positions as the wind blows. Some say they support him because he is his own man, but whose man he actually is has not been established yet. Many in the GOP who railed against Bill Clinton for an affair now remain silent about Trump cheating on Melania with a porn star and then paying her off just before the election.

The wheels are falling off the Trump train, and those who ride it down will suffer some negative consequences. It will get nasty, as Trump attacks American democracy all the way down.

And, btw, my money is on Trump never voluntarily being interviewed by Mueller or his team. As has been said, his friends are afraid he will lie, and his lawyers are afraid he will tell the truth. Either way, the moment he opened mouth he would be screwed.

of course he wont be interviewed - he was getting on a plane to see big important people and (like a little boy) he started talking excitedly abut nonsense before he got on the plane

                          • i was never one to bury my gold and vitamin c tablets in the backyard, but the way i see it is crashing the economy like what happened is like crashing a car. after it happens you don't get back in and drive even more reckless and faster. which with the tax cuts appears to be what we are doing.

i guess every president does it. they want the economy to look great while in office and let the next guy worry about it. but going from 35% to 21% seems like a huge gamble and experiment.

I'm inclined to think that he will be interviewed by Mueller, and will do so without a subpoena. His ego is too massive to back out now, not after he's publicly blustered that he's more than willing to be deposed, because he has nothing to hide. He WILL lie, or at least try to, but at the end of the day, he'll be caught in his own web of deceit. And it seems that it's a far likelier chance that he gets charged (if he CAN get charged as a sitting President) with Obstruction of Justice rather than Collusion. And then he'll probably brag about how he said all along that there was no collusion.

But the impressive list of people that Mueller's team has already interviewed, and the stories coming out this week about Trump ording Mueller to be fired back in the summer, keep putting nails in the coffin...the lids not sealed yet, but it's getting a lot tighter.

Trump also claimed that he had nothing to hide in his tax returns. But, we have never seen those either. When the time comes for Trump to volunteer his testimony he will do his usual flip-flopping and claim that the people or procedures involved are flawed while referring to them with a cute little disrespectful nickname. And then he will bring up some dirt about his political opponents from years past in an attempt to distract the media.
