    That's not what I am saying. My point is that in college football, the best teams NEVER lose to teams with losing records. Look at the historical record. I think you have to go back to Notre Dame 1977 to find a championship team with such a loss (at Ole Miss).

    You are mistaking this with the NFL, where an undefeated Green Bay team can lose to a mediocre Chiefs team (or a good Giants team). But a sub-.500 team in the NFL is still very close to the best NFL teams. That is not the case in college football. That's why the loss is so much more damaging.
