Because the Giants threw an incompletion on 3rd down and played just about the worst version of prevent defense you'll ever see.

Seriously, why didn't they tell Eli to just take a sack or fall down if there was no one open in the end zone on 3rd down?

There is a reason why the Ravens are my choice to win it all. It starts with the D and moves to the depth.

                  Week 1 thoughts:

Patriots: I really, really hate this team but goddamnit, they get it done. Plug and play RBs unstoppable duo of Edleman and Gronk. F*ck them!

Steelers: Might have been a good idea to game plan for that tight end on the other side. Looks like they need Bryant back in a big way. Wheaton isn't going to cut it as the #2. D'Angelo looked good and is a nice handcuff for when Bell comes back.

Panthers: Meh. Their competition on Sunday didn't give us a good judge of what to expect from this team - although their defense did look impressive. They need to find a #1 receiver toot sweet.

Jaguars: I bought in to the Allen Robinson hype train this offseason and am really concerned about what I saw Sunday. I'll give him a tiny benefit of the doubt because he was covered by Josh Norman who is one of the best cover corners in the league. Bortles may die on the field by the end of the year. Yeldon looked ok. Decent RB2 upside.

Chiefs: As a Charger fan (for this year at least) I'm a bit skeered of this team. With a legit #1 receiver in tow and the 3rd (possibly 2nd) best TE to go with one of the top RBs in the game, this offense could really take it to the next level. With Johnson back and healthy the linebackers are scary. And, hey, how do you not root for Eric Berry. The team to beat in the AFC West right now, IMO.

Texans: Can a team win without a QB. If there's any team that will try to prove this it's this team. Yikes. JJ Watt can throw, so he's an option. I tried like hell to get Deandre Hopkins in my leagues but was always a round behind. I'm kicking myself. He's a stud. This team needs Foster back in a bad way. Blue Sucks.Grimes sucks. Polk sucks.

Rams: That's a good defense right there. That front 7 is some scary shit. Can Tavon Austin shed his bust tag this year? Once Gurley comes back (hey, Cunningham filled in admirably) this offense should click even though they lack a #1 WR. Still, this team won because of Pete Carroll's stupidity.

Seahawks: Pete Carroll has cost this team their last two games. Period. Dot. End quote. Graham got his TD but doesn't look to be a major focal point of this offense (as suspected). That Lockett kid looks pretty good. Think Kam Chancellor was the very first phone call after this game?

Browns: What a dumpster fire. Manziel looked ok for a split second. Meh

Jets: Pretty impressive win (although it was against the Browns). Ivory was another guy I was targeting but came up short on. Damnit! Cromartie will have lots of time to spend with his kids (all thousand of them). The guy is a jerk. I don't feel bad about his injury, but it sure hurts this team.

Saints: This team may be in trouble. They didn't look good at all. Granted, the AZ D is pretty darned good. Cooks was a major disappointment but look for him to bounce back. Coleman is definitely on my waiver wire radar!

Cardinals: This may be the team I choose for when the Chargers bolt (see what I did there?). I really like watching Honey Badger play. Glad he's gotten a second chance and has turned it around. Carson Palmer is a pro's pro and they have three solid WR options. The Ellington injury hurts and I'm not buying Arian's statement that CJnoK is the man. I don't care that he's a rookie, give D Johnson that damn ball. One touch, 55 yards and TD is all you need to know.

Packers: James Jone, huh? Ok. Adams owner be like "We were promised!!!". Cobb got a TD but didn't look right.

Bears: Matt Forte will have 700 touches this year. And why not? He's a stud. This team will never go anywhere with Cutler as their QB. They need to get some receivers healthy. They all played but it was obvious they weren't right.

Redskins: Another dumpster fire. What a boring ass game. ZZZZZZZZ

Dolphins: Pre-season hype train on Tannehill and Lamar Miller came to a screeching halt, no?

                  To be continued...

For a color-blind person like myself, they were EXTREMELY annoying.

Almost as annoying as the Berman-Dilfer announcing team.

Chargers: I had written this team off at halftime but they came out and made the adjustments needed. Helped that the Lions offensive line was a mess and their defense let Rivers pick them apart. Keenan Allen is a man on fire. The buzz all camp was that he was determined and focused to put his sophomore year behind him. 100 receptions this year is a given (be nice if he got in to the end zone too). Melvin Gordon looked fantastic although his upside is hampered by Woodhead's presence - who is the 3rd down AND goalline back. Stevie Johnson made good on a lot of people's predictions that he is a sleeper and Ladarius Green flashed the talent that he had been teasing for the past 2 years. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Gates returns. With all the buzz about how the offense performed, Melvin Igram played out of his mind and rookie Kyle Emmanuel looks like a late round steal. BUT, the secondary (Mainly Flowers and Verett) was the story by shutting down Megatron and Tate.

Lions: Just give the damn ball to Abdullah. I know you have some allegiance to Bell for being a good soldier these past few years, but Abdullah is an undeniable star. Eric Weddle's jock strap is still on the field after that juke. The o-line looked not good and will need to step up to give Stafford time to use his weapons. Eric Ebron was one of my sleeper picks and, while he did have one drop, looked pretty sharp.

Raiders: WTF is wrong with this team? They did face a pretty good team in Cincy, but they looked awful. i still think Cooper is a superstar but maybe people jumped the gun a bit on Murray. The biggest thing for me is watching games played on a baseball infield is so LAME. Come on, Oakland!

Bengals: Jeremy Hill will be a guaranteed top 5 back. He's a monster. I would like the Bengals a lot more if Adam Jones weren't on this team. Fuck that guy.

Ravens: Losing Suggs hurts in an unbelievable way. Denever's D looked pretty good so I'm not going to judge the offense quite yet - especially Justin Forsett who will be a top 10 back by year's end. This team need some speed at WR so Perriman coming back sometime in the near future should help.

Titans: Well, that was some debut! It's like they handpicked the team to play against for his first game. Mariota will have a nice NFL career. Good tools. Good head on his shoulders. Bishop Sankey may have a pulse but West and Cobb (when he returns) will limit his value. Boy was I wrong last year about Justin Hunter. Ugh. What a waste.

Buccaneers: And on the flip side of the coin...This team has a lot of holes. Maybe getting Evans back will help.

Giants: Another potential dumpster fire. Eli deserves his "gomer" tag. They couldn't have done more to give the Cowboys that game if they turned around and walked off the field during the last 2 minutes. What a clusterfuck.

Cowboys: Nice win, but it wasn't really deserved. As predicted, the backfield is a big question mark. losing Dez is such a blow. Good luck with Terrance Williams and Cole Beasely as your top two guys.

Hate is a strong word, irrational, I know, but I hate him. He was mediocre last year, had a great game right before fantasy playoffs, just enough to tease me to put him back in the lineup in time for him to suck. Then in week 1 this year, he has a better game for his new fantasy owners than any of his games last year, at a much lower draft round price.

There are tons of pundits out there writing about Peyton's demise, how he can't get the job done anymore, etc. While obviously Father Time catches up with us all, Manning is very far from being stick-a-fork-in-him done.

Good point. And if Sankey is your 4th RB and someone out there lacks RB, sell high. 2 TDs but not that many carries.

But no real competition for the role. Only Terrance West is there until David Cobb returns in Week 8.

Coughlin should be fired for that call. Worst call of all time ??
