  • Super Bowl XLIX Thread

If you had asked me at the start of the season which SB would hold the least appeal for me, well, we are about to get it..... SEA v. NE.

Guess my TV football season is done.

Bill Belichick against Pete Carroll, both pillars of the community. what's not to like?

I actually don't mind Brady or Wilson, although the latter is wildly overrated. but that's not his fault so I don't hold it against him.

I think it's a great football story -- the football dynasty of the last 15 years against an attempt at a new dynasty. It's a fun match-up.

Jude, what's the scoop on Carroll not being a good guy? I know Belichick's story, but I don't really know much about Carroll as being anything other than a laid back dude. Any links to stories?

Nothing since he's been in Seattle, but he ran a dirty program at USC that cost them at least one national championship and put them under other sanctions.

          yes, that's the short answer.
plus Carroll has implemented a shrewd but nasty regime of committing dozens of fouls per game, knowing that many won't get called. plus he complains about how many calls are made, as if it's a conspiracy against his team. there was an offensive PI at end zone today while down 19-7 that they knew would not get called.

they may be the two best coaches in the NFL, heck they probably are.

but if you were about to fall off the top floor of a skyscraper unless they reached out a hand to you, and their hands were full with the remains of a cup of coffee and a half-eaten bagel, you'd cease to exist simultaneous to the end of the coffee and the bagel.

It is better than GBay vs NE or Seattle vs Indy. If we got GB vs Indy it would not seem like we got the best teams. These are the two best teams. Should be a good game.

I don't know what to say to anyone who watched the NFC title game, played in Seattle, and walked away thinking Seattle was the better team. Was it the 18-yard FGs by GB, the possum O with the lead, the botched onside kick, the phantom D on the 2-pt conversion, or something else that clarified how much better the Seahawks were? they have an anemic offense.

They have an anemic passing game because of a dearth of talent at WR and TE. Their running game is quite good.

if there's a weakness belichick will find it. but Sea needs lynch. they won't be the same team w/o him. their OL push him for two yards most times. but that's because he's still standing. getting a RB going down faster and that opportunity isn't there. and Sea becomes a even worse offensive team.

NE won't even try to run the ball in the superbowl. and they won't be able to stop lynch. yet it will be close.

I would rather watch two teams that are really good than 2 teams I hate. Especially since one of the teams cheats.

I'd expect to see a healthy dose of LaGarrette Blount, but we shall see. Also think it is possible they will stop Lynch, or at least limit him. I'm pretty excited to see these two teams play.

Yet another reason for Steelers fans to root against the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Seattle's Doug Baldwin went off on reporters after the game for doubting his team.

ha, the football under-inflation story was true?!

Eleven of 12 footballs were inflated 2 pounds per square inch below what's required by NFL regulations during the Pats' 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, according to sources.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.
