I see that info in the "recent activity" thread, but I open sheet 29 of the draft thread and it's not there. Something strange is going on

      • Wow ... that Campanaris pick changed things a lot at the top in my projections.

        Had Eldiablo taking Roberto Clemente.

I think Campy was the right pick. I projected most of the last two rounds when I had to pick at the last turn. I think he was the obvious choice, although Tommy Harper was someone I thought he might take.

I hope you're right, because it means my projections are wrong, which means I still have a shot at 3rd

... which I think is a very long shot.

I'm really curious to see the remaining picks. This draft is super close, it's been really fun

Thanks, I got a little lucky with it. I committed to punting career ratios and trying to compete for career ratios as soon as I picked Eck and Smoltz. When I opened with 5/6 hitters I knew I needed to be punting something on the pitching side. I won't win, but this one went much better than the last one.

competing for By ratios I think ? anyway, when I look at the standings tab you are really strong, surprised actually that you aren't even higher in the standings. You are so strong across the board. One other observation, saves have really been a key category in this draft.

                          • So that's me done. I went with one of the most bizarre strategies I attempted ... though it won't be obvious from the final points scoring.

Punting Career HR, and BY HR and RBI.

I came pretty close to pulling it off, but I badly let go of my BY BA, and that dragged me down in the end ... and my projections were haphazard. With some better projections and more time, I might have been able to pull that off. Problem was, I was competing for highly sought after players, so I was wasting a lot of value on categories I didn't really need. If I could have moved that wasted value over to BA, I think it is a viable winning strat.

Also I screwed up a little bit early on by not targeting the right players. That meant that I couldn't pick the later players I had banked on ... my points score would have tanked badly if I kept with my original plan.

Anyway, fun draft, and definitely a strat to try again sometime.

Eck and Smoltz are two of the most interesting players to draft. Wilhelm and Tom Gordon kind of interesting too. They sort of force you to do something out of the ordinary if you draft them, and I find them hard to value accurately or predict when they will be drafted.
