Tony Gwynn was one of the last links to Ted Williams, they talked hitting and Williams convinced Gwynn that he should hit for more power, and told him how. 43 of Gwynn's 135 career homers came in his last 3 seasons after incorporating the suggestions of Williams.

Tony Gwynn has passed...
Sad day for baseball in general. They guy was from all appearances classy as they come, and could flat out hit.
He was one of my favorites and will be missed.It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years and we must stop it.

Brett Butler got throat cancer or something similar not long after he retired but made it through okay - also due to "smokeless tobacco". It's crazy to me how closely linked dipping is to baseball, especially since the one time I tried to do it while playing softball I almost fell over trying to field a ground ball since I was so lightheaded.Comment
