In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

Forgot Perkins, Jansen and Britton too. Day of infamy for top closers. Meanwhile, Nathan saves one. Was it a full moon? Mars in retrograde?? Chapman and Holland were at least non-save situations, which we fantasy owners all hate with the power of a thousand suns...nothing even remotely good ever comes from them. Ever.

It's not a 100% thing, it's just that we notice it when it happens. I was at the GASP, and Janssen pitched well in his non-save inning for the Jays against the demoralized Reds. Prior to that, Chapman had no idea where his fastball was going, and his slider (his 88-mph "off-speed" offering) was in the dirt every time; Jays hitters laid off it and forced him to throw the fastball.

          • Jesus, watching Grilli pitch now is like watching Costner at the end of Tin Cup...repetitious, cringe-worthy failure. 27 PC, 0.2 INN, 4 HA, 2 K, 2 ER, 27.000 ERA, 6.000 WHIP. Yikes.

            • Romo's days/minutes/seconds are numbered as SF closer. Blew another last night Bochy owuldn't back him. Rotoworld says Casilla is the guy to own but man, how can they pass on Machi? Guy's been virtually unhittable.

Casilla's been quite good also and has long been the 2nd in line.

                  • Bastardo imploded again after a month or so of not sucking. I still think Ken Giles is the guy to own should Papelbon get traded. Mike Adams might get the job in the short term if he's healthy, but Giles has the stuff to seize it long-term.

He has, when used properly. But he doesn't have an out pitch as good as Giles' slider.
