Jeffress is next at 7 out of 11.
The best conversion rate in the last 20 years has been Eric Gagne in 2003. The Dodgers won 85 games that year and gave Gagne 55 changes to convert a save. He converted every one, giving him saves in 64.7% of the Dodgers' wins that year.

    • The Cubbies are off to the best start by an NL club since the 1977 Dodgers, who also went 22-6.

      • I would really like to see the Cubs win the World Series. Going over 110 years of not winning the WS is so utterly ridiculous.

        • The Cubs (24-6) now have the best record after 30 games since the 1984 Tigers.

          • Jason Heyward made an amazing catch tonight in the RF well at AT&T Park, but slammed his left shoulder into the wall and was immediately in pain. He walked off the field, but the training staff was holding his arm steady to keep it from moving (he was still wincing at times). Hopefully this is just a mild separated shoulder and that he will return in a few weeks, but it very easily could be a broken clavicle, which could keep him out longer.

Bryant took over in RF, with LaStella coming in to play 3b. Matt Szczur should be activated from the DL soon, but I can see Bryant in RF often in the coming weeks, giving even more playing time to Baez and LaStella.

Here is what RW is reporting:

Jason Heyward is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury that he sustained when crashing into the outfield wall after making a diving catch on Friday.
The Cubs announced late Friday that Heyward was under observation to his right torso/abdomen region, and the outfielder said that his "lower rib bone and hip bone hit each other." While Heyward downplayed the severity of the injury, he could still be looking at a trip to the disabled list. Expect an update from the Cubs on his status on Saturday.

A good deal for both teams, IMO. The Cubs have no spot for Alcantara, and his value had gone down. Coughlin gives the Cubs depth and flexibility. OTOH, Alcantara had some major upside as a post-hype sleeper. In a deep AL league, if you have a minors slot, I'd be all over Alcantara.
I'm just here for the baseball.

                        • Anyone know why the Cubs pitched Hendricks for 2 innings today out of the bullpen? Hammel had given them 5. Bringing in a starter to throw 2 seems odd. Also, is it safe to assume he won't pitch Sunday now?

Hammel had cramping issues. i think Hendricks still goes Sunday.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

Don't think Hendricks is going again until after the break...may be the first one out of the gate, but Lackey is pitching Sunday and the Cubs probably just wanted to get him some work.
