The team said Bird is scheduled to be evaluated by foot specialist, Dr. Martin O’Malley, on Monday in New York, after which more about his status should be known. Even so, inflammation isn't a worst-case scenario, so the initial news seems to be promising. Despite the relatively good news, with so little time left before Opening Day it still could mean a trip to the disabled list to open the year. Anyone know if this is going to be a 10 day dl stint, or are we looking at longer? I have him at $9 and we need to turn in our keeper list by noon Saturday. I am now leaning towards not protecting Hicks. This would be for 12 team AL only league. After his 2 DL trips last year, I am thinking I would rather someone else deal with him.
