In this league -- 12-team, 6x6 mixed keeper -- players drafted 10th round and lower ("lower" meaning Rounds 11-22, not 1-9) can be kept for 2 years....and there are at least 3-4 Red Sox homers among my fellow owners. Way I see it, Bogaerts is the single top offensive prospect out there, being that (A) he plays thin SS spot, (B) he's moving up chain fast & could be up sometime this year assuming another injury to Drew (versus, say, Sano/Buxton who might not be up til 2014/2015, or Taveras who MIGHT be up this year, but can't seem to stay healthy), and (C) he's a potential 5-6 category fantasy stud.
What I'm getting at is, I'm starting to get very antsy about just snagging him regardless of whether it eats up a fairly valuable roster spot (currently occupied by Scutaro or Kelly Johnson, guys who have been valuable due to positional flexibility and help in certain categories: Scutaro AVG/R, Johnson HR/RBI). And while I'd miss having them to plug in at 3B/SS/2B, I know I'd kick myself if I didn't one-up my competition and snag Bogaerts for the next two years...as a waiver wire 22nd rounder (!), which is potentially crazy value. I finished 3rd place first half (in the $), and am starting hot in 1st place second half, so I don't think I'd be hurting my team THAT much if I dropped Scutaro/Johnson for a flier on Bogaerts.
Anyway, thoughts on when is too soon to pull the prospect trigger? For context, here's my team:

...yes, I'd certainly be more worried about his groin/age/trade-ability than lack of appendix.
