And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

Did they really just bring in Marmol with a guy on second and one out in a one-run game to pitch to Votto? Ugh.In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. Marmol was credited with his second victory, leading the staff, while Kevin Gregg notched his first save. Sveum said he pulled Villanueva for Marmol after 99 pitches because Joey Votto was 1-for-15 against Marmol in his career, including a key strikeout on Monday.
"The numbers don't lie," Sveum said. "He got the ground ball. I was like 'Really? You can't hit it at somebody?'
