Would the MLB team of a player who tested positive know of the test results pending a suspension and possible appeal? If so, I cannot possibly fathom that the Cano rumor is true, as Brian Cashman openly acknowledged less than a week ago that the Yankees were talking with Boras about a deal with Cano and had recently offered Cano a "significant" contract extension. Surely that wouldn't be the case if they had knowledge of a failed PED test and pending suspension.

This. And wouldn't a team, who knew that a key player was going to be out for an extended period, make moves here in the pre-season to cover for that loss? We'd see odd, seemingly superfluous, transactions as teams work to cover holes that they know they are going to have, but we don't. Maybe the Dodgers know Kershaw and Greinke are both going down for PEDs, so they are hanging onto Harang and Capuano in expectation. That sort of thing. Rumors are rumors.
