Clearly a huge risk to pay a pticher 25 mill a year for 7 years when they already had him locked up for a couple of more years. Still, just in terms of salary for talent, these new tv deals will likely make this contract look like a decent value a few years from now. Of course, that is assuming King Felix doesn't go all Brandon Webb, or even all Joe Mauer, on the Ms. And it is also a great PR deal for the Ms to make, and a message to the fans that the Ms aren't just a farm team for the big markets.

I would've never forgiven the M's had they dealt him -- plain and simple. And I'm willing to wager I wouldn't have been the only one in that boat, too. The contract scares me, certainly, but having Felix ensures I won't leave as a fan (and that's something me and a few of my Seattle buddies have been contemplating of late seeing as how awful we've been for essentially a decade now). At some point, the pain of being a fan becomes worse than enjoying the sport, and if you can't enjoy a past time, well, there's plenty of other past times and far too little time in the first place.
I'm glad to have Felix around for the duration. It'd be nice if we could get him some good teammates now, too.

... says the fan of the Toronto Blue Marlins ...It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.
