  • I did a players drafted by position thread. Make sure when posting your pick and filling out your roster you double check position eligibility. For instance, Prade doesn't qualify at 2B under the 15-game minimum.

As long as he doesn't return to his pudgy and lazy form of a few years back, I feel pretty confident he'll be fine.
And I'm betting that the Melky that we saw in the last 2 seasons was driven by PED's...doesn't mean that he can't hit for a decent average or steal bags for you, but I think that scaling back expectations might be in order.

I need to see both of them at least in Spring Training before I budge on my ranking.
Exactly. The KC/SF Melky is definitely worthy of being selected here over the likes of Hunter Pence, who went just after him. But the NYY/ATL certainly is not worthy, and that would be a disastrous pick. And who really knows which one he'll become this season? How can anyone really have faith that his numbers were not purely PED-driven?

        • I like the Melky pick. He was the top hitter on my list. He's in a much better hitting environment than SF or KC and in a better all around lineup, which I think limits his downside.

          • I really do not believe that PEDs really improve stats much. They help athletes become better athletes but the skills that drive statistical performance are not purely physical. If they were we wouldn't have so many great athletes but lame players getting nothing out of them. I found a long study once on this and it convinced me that this was the case. I'll try to find the link.

It sounds like you don't like my choice of Pence. Perhaps you are right but perhaps you are wrong. I don't love the guy but I would have taken him before Melky.

Hell, he hates my whole team!

                • TS Garp timed out. The splinter is up.
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

                  • Too many good pitchers still on the board to ignore any longer. Here's hoping that the knuckleball still dances north of the boarder.

I think you misread my post -- if BigJon is getting the 2011/2012 Melky, then he made a solid pick who is worthy of being selected over a Hunter Pence. But the 2009/2010 Melky is sure as heck not worthy!

And sorry Jon, don't mean to keep picking on your selections!

Not my turn, but just curious, if someone timed out and hasn't made their pick, do we wait 4/6 hours again on them?
