  • Arizona Fall League

They are a couple of games into the schedule and I did not see a thread.

My interest is primarily if Christian Encarnacion-Strand is looking healthy. I own his rights for 25 and 26 but he's not cheap. If he will be about what we expected last spring he will be a solid keep. Matt McLain, same story.

I'm interested to see what Andrew Painter does. I think he pitches either today or tomorrow.

Painter did pitch today. Sat 98-100, and in 2.0 IP gave up 2 R, 2 H, got 2 K and issued 1 BB.

The velocity is a good sign. The command comes later, so the runs aren't a big concern this early. It is hard to sit on hurt pitchers, but if I had with Painter, I'd be pleased with the results.

Sentiment is he won’t be a Catcher but his hit tool is actually more advanced than power and so this is a good sign for him.

Andrew Painter threw 3 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts for Glendale in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday.

Painter threw 32 pitches and didn’t issue a walk. Nineteen of those pitches were fastballs that averaged over 97 mph.

He's also apparently added a hard slider he is throwing at 88.

This has been frustrating. I am looking for some insight on Christian Encarnacion-Strand. He has played in only 14 AB but he raked.

I suppose that means he's healthy enough. Where will he fall in the draft?

Andrew Painter threw another three scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks on Wednesday.

Painter used all four pitches on Wednesday for the first time this fall. His four-seam fastball got up to 99 mph while sitting 97, and he flashed his low-80s curve, harder, upper-80s slider, and also debuted a power change-up in the low-90s.
