Ten years later we're married with kids ... priorities have shifted; and we simply haven't replaced the oldtimers with new blood.
Yep, I think this is it right here. We need a youth infusion. I don't think we're going to be able to get old timers who first came to this site for fantasy baseball but stayed primarily for the community and comaraderie to be the primary engines of the fantasy baseball forum. We've piled on too many other priorities and responsibilities in our lives to carry that mantle.

When are your kids going to start posting here?

Also, the younger generation doesn't use message boards that much, since most of their information needs are taken care of by Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I'd make the same criticisms of the Baseball HQ forums as well....I think it is just the nature of the industry going the Twitter route....
"You know what's wrong with America? If I lovingly tongue a woman's nipple in a movie, it gets an "NC-17" rating, if I chop it off with a machete, it's an "R". That's what's wrong with America, man...."--Dennis Hopper

We're trying to keep them away for as long as humanly possible from regularly staring at screens of any kind (TV, video games, internet), so hopefully not for a long time.

You don't want them to be blind by 50 like the rest of us? They'll be shunned by all the cool kids who can't see.

That may be due to some other cause than staring at screens. I'm just sayin'....

I know for me work has gotten crazy, leaving less time to even lurk during the day. Also, many posters have had issues with the site being blocked at work as corporate leaders try to restrict any non-business related sites from the workplace.
Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!

Count me among the Married/Child/Increased Job Duties crowd.

In any incarnation, I hope the core group of rjers stick around

I think a header at the top of the board would help.

We used to have articles and cheat sheets and prospect lists and such to attract people at least in the spring. Maybe a few of us could volunteer an article a month so we get one or two a week on the front page. Would anyone actually go to fantasy cafe if not for the articles???

I tend to be more like Steve from page #2. I check in here often (usually several times a day) seeking insight or advice. But because several of you all do so much more research than I do, understand it and present it so well, I rarely post unless I have something of genuine value to offer. Some of my more recent post sum up what I mean; like presenting my live take on Tulo's potential readiness to return after observing him in a minor league playoff series or how there were possible indications Trout fared worst versus teams who saw him frequently. As far as going deep to mine data or gaining understanding of underlying saber relations, I come here to see what you real experts in here are observing and use it to my benefit.

Another thing that might help is to eliminate some of the sub-forums. The traffic is light enough that having the asst gm threads here might spark a bit more discussion and encourage more lurkers to post. I'd put the prospect posts here as well.

It's been a long time since this place was a must go to fantasy source. Like when there was actual content being produced like the fix. Now it's just a comfy spot for you yenta's to yap away.

Up until this site got blocked at work, I would check in at least twice a day. I still try it maybe once a month to see if it works, but it never does. Now, with kids and all, I might pop in at night only from time to time.
