I thought this was a pretty good read. It's scary that BJ Upton is not only underperforming (understatement), but now facing playing time concerns from three other potential outfield alignments that exclude him. I own Upton in a mixed league... and I'm starting to wonder when I should just pull the trigger and cut him. I just want to be done with it. But there aren't any/many guys available with that level of potential. The article does point out that Upton is making a change to his swing... Something to keep an eye on.

Informative article on TJ surgeries and pitch counts by Will Carroll (dont let the fact that it's the Bleacher Report site dissuade you):

This is hilarious, unless you're a Phillies fan, and then I suggest you stay far, far away.

I just finished the Jose Canseco book "Juiced", and I have to say it was the best, most truthful account of the steroid issue I've read. I got it from my public library and would guess you could as well"You know what's wrong with America? If I lovingly tongue a woman's nipple in a movie, it gets an "NC-17" rating, if I chop it off with a machete, it's an "R". That's what's wrong with America, man...."--Dennis Hopper

This is the most surprising revelation re: baseball data that I've read in quite a while. It could change the way I think about baseball career progression.
For years it’s been assumed hitters will get to the major leagues and peak offensively around age 30. Teams and fans can hope the new, shiny, 20-home-run-hitting rookie will improve over time and…
The next thing I'm waiting to see is confirmation of this from other sources. If this is true, then the next question is why is this so? The article offers some possible explanations, but there need to be more definitive answers.
