I don't think it he is quite ready for the show. I think it would be a mistake for them to bring him up this year.

If that's the case, you can count on the Mets to do that and use him in like a 7th inning role. Go Mets!

Seriously though, if this really is Wheeler for Beltran, I'll happily take it. I love Beltran, but that would be a nice deal for someone they can't get draft picks for in the offseason.

The guy is in single A. No way he's coming up and no need to anyway.

Yes, it would be a good deal. Wheeler has great stuff and has a good chance to eventually be a top of the rotation starter. He just isn't ready for that yet, and he probably won't be until 2013.

If this is Beltran for Wheeler that a good deal for both teams. Mets get a great young prospect and the Giants get their two-month rental big bat that they REALLY need. I'd have preferred they go after Pence, but Beltran is a decent fit.

Will Duda be the full-time right fielder now? Any chance F-Mart gets another shot?

Duda will be the full-time RFer, and Collins said Hairston will get some ABs versus lefties. No mention of F-Mart.

No way he's up before 2013. He's had command issues this season

Hairston is tough on lefties iirc; I'd expect a platoon.

If Ike Davis was coming back (doubt it), they'd have to consider Murphy (hitting over .360 in last 250 AB or so) for LF, though he struggled there in 2009. But looks like Murphy stays at 1B.

Glad you enjoyed. It offers less "T&A" than many here, but fit the bill. I think Duda will see plenty of PT (has more power than Murphy, for starters) this year. And next year, I wouldn't be surprised to see him as the starting RF (or 1B if Davis can't come back). Maybe that's wishful thinking though, as I have him for $1.

Beltran currently has career totals of 295 home runs and 292 stolen bases. He would be only the seventh member of the 300/300 club joining Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Bobby Bonds, Andre Dawson, Reggie Sanders, and Steve Finley.

Beltran could also break the record for all-time stolen base percentage for players with 300 or more steals. Tim Raines is the current leader with a percentage of .847 (808 sb, 146 cs). Beltran currently has a percentage of .882 (292 sb, 39 cs).

Beltran, when healthy, has been a superstar. And postseason heroics, of course.

Interesting athlete, too. If he's healthy down the stretch, the Giants will be a force. Just beat the Phillies twice, first time in months anyone did that...
